Description

The Department of Human Performance, Division of Athletic Training at West Virginia University (WVU - Morgantown, WV), is seeking a full-time, non-tenure track (12-month), Assistant/Associate Professor to serve as the Director of Clinical Education (DCE) for the Master of Science in Athletic Training that will contribute to a well-established program with a tradition of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service.

The DCE is a core faculty member whose primary appointment is to the athletic training program and who has the responsibility to direct clinical education. The successful candidate will have previous clinical practice in athletic training, experience as a DCE and educator in a Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) program, as well as experience working with Division I Athletics.
Responsibilities of the DCE for the Master of Science in Athletic Training program include, but are not limited to:



  • Oversight of student clinical progression.
  • Student assignment to athletic training clinical and supplemental clinical experiences.
  • Evaluation of students, clinical sites, and preceptors.
  • Regular communication and professional development of preceptors, including development of regular preceptor training.
  • Selection of clinical sites and preceptors.

Qualifications

The Director of Clinical Education (DCE) must meet the following criteria for consideration:



  • Master's degree required in field relating to athletic training.
  • Contemporary expertise in athletic training.
  • Certification and good standing with the Board of Certification. It is expected that the candidate will obtain WV Athletic Training licensure upon employment.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of clinical practice as an athletic trainer.
  • NPI number with appropriate health care field designation.
  • Scholarship record or potential to contribute to scholarship appropriate for rank.


In addition to the required qualifications listed above, candidates with the following qualifications are strongly encouraged to apply:



  • An earned doctoral degree preferred (PhD, EdD, DAT, etc.) in fields relating to the athletic training profession.
  • Minimum of 3 years teaching in a CAATE accredited Athletic Training Program.
  • Previous experience as a Director/Coordinator of Clinical Education in a CAATE accredited Athletic Training program.
  • Experience working with NCAA Division I Athletics.


All qualifications must be met by the time of the appointment.
