JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Penn State College of Medicine, Department of Microbiologyand Immunology, in Hershey, PA, is hiring a Postdoctoral Scholarinterested in a basic research career focused on virology. The post-doctoral scholar will work directly under the mentorship of Dr. Jianming Hu, with additional opportunities for mentorship from others within the Department and the College of Medicine.The post-doctoral scholar will have the opportunity to work on a number of NIAID-funded projects broadly focused on hepatitis B virus infection and persistence. The post-doctoral scholar will be expected to help support management of ongoing projects and develop their skills through independent research and mentorship. They will plan, conduct, analyze, and synthesize data, write and submit scientific manuscripts, and present research results at local and national scientific conferences. A Ph.D. degree or equivalent in the field of virology or a closely related field is required by the start date.A successful candidate will possess excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication (both oral and written) skills. research experience in virology, molecular biology, and/or cell biology will be viewed positively.
