Stony Brook University: Health Sciences: Renaissance School of Medicine: Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Location Stony Brook, New York Open Date Oct 09, 2024 Deadline Feb 06, 2025 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time Description Suffolk County, New York, where Stony Brook University is situated, is currently suffering from an opioid epidemic in addition to the typical prevalence of other substance use disorders. This has led to the creation of a Division of Addiction Psychiatry. The Stony Brook Health System's expansion to include 2 hospitals on the North and South Forks of Suffolk County, which currently operate NYS-licensed SUD programs in both locations, requires a coordinated effort to help address the county-wide problem. The Clinical Psychologist will be expected to provide evidence-based therapeutic services for patients with substance use disorders which will be a primary focus for this position. Responsibilities include direct patient care (at least 90% effort), including diagnostic evaluations, individual and group psychotherapy, and research/academic activities (up to 10% effort). The Clinical Assistant Professor will provide teaching/supervising evidence-based psychosocial interventions for addiction to medical students and residents in psychiatry and other departments, as well as providing clinical care. They will be tasked with assisting Division faculty in the provision of the clinical, research, and educational programs related to addiction, coordinate and oversee quality of psychosocial treatments for addiction between hospital sites, and work with the Division to develop vibrant and competitive Addiction Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine Fellowships. The Clinical Assistant Professor may assist in working with the hospitals and the School of Medicine to develop comprehensive, demonstrably high-quality addiction services across the spectrum. The faculty member will routinely join in the collaboration with internal and external stakeholders when developing programs and to help move the community toward a prevention model. Schedule: Full-Time schedule totaling forty hours per week, including the possibility of evening hours; 50-100% of appointments/work via telehealth. *Please note, the telemedicine policy could be subject to change by Stony Brook University and Stony Brook Hospital if needed.
