The Carolina Institute for Developmental Disabilities ( CIDD) is seeking a North Carolina licensed (or license-eligible) psychologist to provide clinical and research services, lead interdisciplinary clinical teams, and supervise and provide clinical training to graduate students. This is part-time fixed term (clinical) position at the clinical assistant professor level. The position is based in the Carolina Institute for Developmental Disabilities.The position is based in the Carolina Institute for Developmental Disabilities. Applicants must have a doctoral degree (PhD) in an applied area of psychology and be currently licensed (or license-eligible) in North Carolina. A postdoctoral psychology fellowship specializing in intellectual and developmental disabilities is required.

The successful candidate should have expertise in the provision of psychological services across the lifespan and to a wide range of individuals with or at-risk for intellectual/developmental disabilities ( IDD) and their families. Applicants must have broad clinical experiences and expertise including assessment, intervention, and community-based consultation (e.g., schools, childcare, residential, and hospital settings) with persons who have myriad neurodevelopmental disabilities.

Competencies in the area of autism spectrum disorders ( ASD) are necessary and must include both diagnostic services and evidence-based intervention; specific emphasis will be on working with adolescents and adults with IDD/ ASD. The successful applicant must have experience with and training in working with individuals who have co-occurring IDD and mental health needs, including behavioral challenges.

The applicant should have experience working in an interdisciplinary healthcare setting, preferably in an academic and/or medical setting, and a record of providing education/training opportunities at the university and in the community. The successful candidate will also be expected to provide clinical services to persons with IDD who have neuorological and genetic conditions such as Angelman Syndrome and Prader-Will Syndrome.

Preference will be given to candidates with dedicated clinical training in the area of intellectual/developmental disabilities, including ASD, genetic and neurological conditions and IDD with co-occurring mental/behavioral health needs. Candidates with experience within LEND and/or UCEDD programs will be preferred as is prior teaching and supervision of graduate level students.

Applicants with experience in evidence-based interventions (e.g., PEERS) and complex behavioral assessment/treatment are strongly encouraged to apply. Successful candidates will be able to assist researchers in designing and implementing developmental assessment protocols for studies focused on persons with IDD.
