Job Summary:




The Section of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition of the University of Colorado School of Medicine (CU SOM) and the Digestive Health Institute of Children's Hospital Colorado (CHCO) are seeking a BC/BE pediatric gastroenterologist with expertise in Pediatric Hepatology and Liver Transplant for a faculty position at Children's Hospital Colorado on the Anschutz Medical Campus in the Denver Metro area. The candidate must be thoroughly trained and experienced in pediatric gastroenterology, pediatric hepatology and liver transplant, and qualify for appointment at the Assistant Professor rank as a Clinical-Educator in the CU SOM. Primary responsibilities will include outpatient and inpatient clinical evaluation and management of patients with pediatric gastrointestinal and liver disease and performance of GI procedures. This is a 0.8 cFTE clinician educator position, with the remaining 0.2FTE allocated to progressive clinical administrative work in the Pediatric Liver Center as well as hepatology clinical trials.

Ongoing hepatology laboratory research includes investigations of the roles of cell signaling, mitochondrial dysfunction, and oxidative stress in hepatocyte injury in the cholestatic and fatty liver; the role of innate immunity in parenteral-nutrition-associated liver injury; characterization of the pathogenesis of biliary atresia in a mouse model; vaccine preventable illness in transplant, and the impact of sarcopenia on liver disease outcomes. Our center is also involved in a variety of clinical trials in pediatric gastroenterology and hepatology.

The faculty in the Pediatric Liver Center are a supportive and collaborative group of physicians ranging from junior to senior colleagues in a thriving and innovative clinical practice. They work in a high functioning multi-disciplinary team that includes hepatobiliary and transplant surgeons, psychologists, nurses, dieticians, social workers and pharmacists. The Liver Center provides comprehensive hepatology and liver transplant care for children across a broad geographic area, including a robust living donor liver transplant program.

Qualifications:



Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.



  • Completed fellowship in Pediatric Gastroenterology at an ACGME-approved fellowship (or equivalent) by the time of hire date
  • MD (or equivalent) degree and Pediatrics Board Certified in Pediatrics
  • Board Eligible or certified in Pediatric Gastroenterology and Pediatric Advanced Hepatology and Transplant. If Board eligible, this individual will sit for and pass these exams at the first available opportunity.


Condition of Employment:



  • Must successfully pass a drug test through Children's Hospital Colorado
  • Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check

Preferred Qualifications:



  • Demonstrated experience in clinical research, quality improvement and education
  • Demonstrated skills in the performance and interpretation of pediatric liver biopsies
  • Completion of an advanced hepatology fellowship at a large academic institution with robust exposure to a broad variety of liver diseases and liver transplant
  • Publications in peer-reviewed journals in pediatric gastroenterology or hepatology-related fields

Anticipated Pay Range:



The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

$207,690- $221,338

The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
