Division of Research, Innovation & Impact Job Description
Are you ready to take the lead in safeguarding cutting-edge research and innovation? We're seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented individual to fill the role of Research Security Officer at the University Missouri S&T (Rolla, MO). This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the development, implementation, and monitoring of our university's export controls, sanctions, and research security program. Key Responsibilities IncludeGlobal Impact: Serve as the primary point of contact for Missouri S&T, handling day-to-day export control issues flagged for review. This includes contract reviews, I-129 Attestation requests, international travel reviews, and international shipping requests. Collaborative Leadership: Work with key constituents within the University to develop procedures, educational materials, website content, and best practices to strengthen research security and export controls programs. Integration and Alignment: Collaborate closely with the UM System Director of Research Security and Compliance to ensure alignment with UM System and University policies, procedures, and practices, meeting federal requirements such as CHIPS & Science Act of 2022 and NSPM-33. Expertise Development: Maintain expertise related to ITAR, EAR, OFAC regulations, NSDD-189, CUI policies, NSPM-33, CHIPS & Science Act of 2022, and federal contracting requirements. Actively participate in professional development opportunities. Technological Compliance: Implement and monitor Technology Control Plans (TCPs) to ensure compliance with export control regulations and related contractual obligations. Individuals in this position must be eligible to receive export controlled information. Shift
Monday - Friday, 8 am to 5 pm This role has a potential for hybrid work, consisting of 2-3 day visits every 8 weeks. This will include a mandatory onboarding in-person of 3-4 days at Missouri S&T. Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary Preferred Qualifications
* In-depth understanding of ITAR, EAR, OFAC regulations, and federal contracting requirements. * Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively. * Proven experience in developing and implementing research security and compliance programs. Remote/ hybrid work arrangements may be considered for this position. Anticipated Hiring Range
