DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

The UC Washington Program (UCDC) is a multi-campus academic program that provides a transformative experience for University of California students in the nation's capital through experiential learning opportunities. Open to undergraduate University of California students from any major, the UCDC academic program promotes a learning environment where participants can integrate coursework, field research, and professional experience during their residence in the nation's capital. The program emphasizes experiential learning and provides a real-world platform through internships, allowing students to garner practical experience in their respective fields of study. Residing in Washington D.C., participants have the unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the city's rich cultural, political, and international heritage, which significantly complements their academic and professional endeavors. The UC Washington Center, located on Scott Circle in Downtown Washington, further embeds participants in the heart of the political landscape, presenting a myriad of networking and learning opportunities that substantially broaden their horizons. Through the UCDC program, participants enjoy a comprehensive and enriching experience that marries academic, professional, and cultural learning in a dynamic and influential setting.

POSITION SUMMARY

UCDC has student assistant positions available on a term-by-term basis: The ideal candidate is expected to function as an integral part of a fast-paced team, have a proactive approach to work and problem-solving. Must be a strong collaborator who is curious, adaptable, and willing to learn. (There are 4 positions available)

Responsibilities

100% Operational and Administrative support:

Support specific to unit. This may include:

Food Pantry Support: Receive, transport, and inspect pantry deliveries. Stock Shelves. Maintain pantry cleanliness and sanitation. Display product attractively. Assist and oversee students in the pantry.

Administrative and Business Operations: Data entry and organization. File management. Assistance with scheduling and calendars Handling correspondence and general office tasks.

Internship Support and Peer Advisor: Promote program and engage students. Develop leadership and advising skills. Enhance student experience. Offer guidance and support.

Communications and Marketing: Create content for various platforms. Manage social media accounts. Design graphics and presentations. Conduct market research and analytics tracking.

Development and Fundraising: Communicate with donors. Maintain donor databases. Support event planning and execution. Assist with grant research and fundraising campaigns. Event Planning and Program Development. Coordinate logistics and registrations. Prepare event materials. Provide on-site support. Assist in event evaluation and reporting.

IT: Provide technical support. Assist with audio-visual setup. Create documentation and training materials. Promote cybersecurity awareness.

Required Qualifications

  • Self-motivated and comfortable working both independently, and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong interpersonal communications skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, OneDrive and PowerPoint.

Education

University of California undergraduate student, participating in the UCDC Washington program.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

Salary: $17.50 hourly
