SD: Periodontics (Full-time, Day Shift) - Our mission is to continue the teaching and healing ministry of Jesus Christ. The Dental Specialist 1 manages and directs dental clinical care provided by pre-doctoral dental students and delivered to patients of the dental school; mentors and advises students related to dental clinical care; upholds the LLUSD standards of care. This role may be conducted in a "pod" or "module" setting ("team") without variance on the specific duties, but the breadth of student contact may be variable. This is a faculty position that has a faculty appointment (Assistant Professor). Faculty rank will be assigned based on the School of Dentistry Rank and Tenure guidelines. Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS), Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD), or equivalent in Dentistry required. Two years of private practice management preferred. Job level placement is determined by Loma Linda University School of Dentistry Faculty Promotion Committee. Active license to practice dentistry, valid exemption from licensure from State of California, or special exemption from the Dental Board of California required. Certification through Advanced Dental Education program obtained with 90 days of hire required. Knowledge of current technology and educational media used in teaching and presentations. Able to effectively communicate changes and instructions in a professional, effective and positive manner. Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position as well as Canvas and Banner. Able to communicate effectively on the telephone; think critically; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure. Able to distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position.
