We're looking for an Assistant Director of Finance to join our team and play a vital role in advancing our organization's mission. As the Assistant Director, you'll work closely with staff at all levels and in every department, providing hands-on support and building financial literacy across the organization. This role is essential to our long-term fiscal sustainability and our ability to have an even greater impact. You'll be a key player in strengthening our financial systems, ensuring compliance, and providing critical support for everything from budgeting to cash flow management. What you'll do:
Lead and develop a team: Supervise and mentor our business office staff, fostering a collaborative culture aligned with our organizational values. Strengthen financial operations: Support the Director of Finance in overseeing accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting. You'll manage key processes like month-end and year-end closes and oversee balance sheet and bank reconciliations. Drive strategy and forecasting: Help develop annual budgets and implement multi-year financial forecasting to support our strategic goals. You'll work closely with program staff to monitor budgets and support realignment as and when needed. Ensure compliance: Maintain and improve our internal financial controls, and prepare for audits, including annual financial and Uniform Guidance audits. You'll stay up-to-date on non-profit financial regulations to ensure we're always in compliance. Enhance systems and processes: Contribute to evaluating and improving our financial systems to boost efficiency and accuracy.
What you'll bring:
A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. At least 5 years of progressive financial experience, with a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory role. Non-profit experience is a huge plus! Strong knowledge of GAAP and non-profit accounting principles. Proficiency with accounting software and advanced Excel skills. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
