Description

Note: APA operates on a 37.5-hour work week with one-hour lunch breaks each day. APA sets salaries based on several considerations, including years of relevant experience, level of education, and previous staff and/or governance experience at APA.

The Senior Salesforce Developer partners with APA business units to understand their needs, guides them to solutions that can be delivered on the APA Salesforce Platform, and designs, builds, and supports those solutions. Working within a team of Salesforce developers, this role delivers scalable, secure, and maintainable Apex, Lightning Web Components, and Flow through the team's Jira and Copado delivery process.

Education and Experience Required:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Experience:

  • 6+ years of hands-on Salesforce development experience, with at least 3 years in a senior or lead developer role.
  • Proven experience delivering in a large, multi-team Salesforce org with legacy customization, managed packages, and integrations.
  • Demonstrated ability to run requirements sessions directly with non-technical stakeholders and translate them into delivered solutions.
  • Track record of guiding stakeholders away from requests that do not fit the platform toward simpler, maintainable alternatives.
  • Strong written communication, including user stories, acceptance criteria, design notes, and incident summaries.
  • Experience working in an Agile team with peer code review and shared development standards.
  • Experience in association or nonprofit environments (membership, renewals, accreditation, events) is a plus.

Computer Skills Required:

Salesforce Expertise:

  • Salesforce Platform Developer I certification required; Platform Developer II or Application Architect preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Apex (triggers, batch, queueable, scheduled, and invocable), SOQL/SOSL, and Apex test classes.
  • Strong experience building Lightning Web Components and record-triggered, screen, and autolaunched Flows.
  • Solid understanding of the Salesforce security model, sharing, and Experience Cloud/guest-user access.
  • Experience with Salesforce APIs (REST, SOAP), Named Credentials, Connected Apps, and platform events.
  • Working knowledge of platform limits (governor limits, org-wide Apex code limits, storage) and how to design within them.
  • Experience with managed packages such as Fonteva and Apttus/Conga CPQ is a plus.

General Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency with Salesforce DevOps tools (Copado, SFDX/Salesforce CLI, Git, Bitbucket) and sandbox-based release pipelines.
  • Advanced knowledge of agile project management tools (Jira, Confluence).
  • Familiarity with VS Code and AI-assisted development tools (for example, Claude Code or Agentforce) is a plus.

Responsibilities:

Business Partnership

  • Lead discovery sessions with business units and end users to identify the real need behind each request.
  • Recommend solutions that fit the APA Salesforce Platform, favoring existing functionality over net-new builds, and explain trade-offs in plain language.
  • Translate requirements into Jira user stories with clear acceptance criteria.

Solution Design

  • Choose between declarative (Flow, configuration) and programmatic (Apex, LWC) approaches for each requirement.
  • Assess the impact of changes on existing automation, managed packages, security, and integrations before building.
  • Lead discovery spikes on legacy or unfamiliar areas of the org and document findings.

Development & Delivery

  • Design, build, test, and deploy bulk-safe Apex, Lightning Web Components, and Flows.
  • Deliver changes through the team's Copado pipeline across development, SIT, QA/UAT, and Production environments.
  • Investigate and resolve production incidents, identifying root cause and implementing lasting fixes.

Collaboration & Quality

  • Review other developers' code and user stories before promotion.
  • Retire dead code, obsolete automation, and unused metadata safely, with dependency checks across environments.
  • Mentor junior developers and administrators, and contribute to team standards and runbooks.
  • others duties as assigned
