Responsibilities

The Security Program Manager is responsible for designing, implementing, and continuously improving the organization's enterprise physical security and workplace safety program. Unlike traditional security leadership roles focused on daily security operations, this position serves as the strategic leader responsible for developing systems, standards, training, and partnerships that promote a safe and welcoming environment across all facilities. This role partners with executive leadership, facilities, clinical operations, human resources, technology, legal, compliance, risk management, and local security personnel to proactively reduce risk while preserving the organization's mission of compassionate care. Primary areas of responsibility include physical security strategy, workplace violence prevention, behavioral threat mitigation, emergency preparedness, crisis response coordination, de-escalation training, security technology optimization, and enterprise security standards. This position will initially focus on one campus while developing scalable programs that can ultimately support all locations nationwide. This position is responsible for supporting compliance with applicable Joint Commission standards related to physical security, physical safety, emergency management, and workplace violence prevention.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in healthcare environments, behavioral health, workplace violence prevention, physical security assessments, crisis management, Emergency Operations Centers, executive presentations, budget development, change management, and multi-site organizations.
  • Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Emergency Management, Public Safety, Business Administration, Security Management, Organizational Leadership, Healthcare Administration, or a related field required; equivalent military or law enforcement leadership experience may be considered.
  • Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in healthcare security, public safety, emergency management, military force protection, law enforcement, corporate security, or physical security required.
  • Experience leading cross-functional projects and implementing enterprise programs
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and professionally, both verbally and in writing, with employees, leaders, and external stakeholders at all levels; prepare effective reports, policies, procedures, presentations, and other communications; translate complex safety and security information for diverse audiences; build collaborative working relationships; and provide clear direction while maintaining professionalism during routine operations and emergency situations.
  • Valid driver's license required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One or more certifications preferred, including ASIS Certified Protection Professional, Physical Security Professional, Professional Certified Investigator, Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator, FEMA Incident Command, OSHA certifications, Crisis Prevention Institute, Mental Health First Aid, Verbal De-escalation Instructor.

  • Knowledge of Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design, workplace violence prevention principles, behavioral threat assessment, enterprise policies, and healthcare security best practices.

  • Demonstrated strategic thinking, program development, project management, executive communication, organizational change leadership, analytical abilities, presentation skills, and ability to influence without direct authority.

  • Experience in behavioral safety management and de-escalation programs
