Description

SUMMARY


The Assembler builds and finishes corrugated packaging and related products using approved assembly methods, hand tools, adhesives, fasteners, and material-handling equipment. The role supports short-run and value-added production by following job specifications, maintaining product quality, and keeping work moving safely through the assembly area. Success requires consistent workmanship, accurate counts, attention to dimensions and customer requirements, and dependable performance in a fast-paced production environment.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  1. Review work instructions, samples, drawings, and production priorities before each job; confirm materials, quantities, and assembly method.
  2. Assemble finished products using approved methods such as folding, laminating, gluing, taping, stapling, or fastening while protecting product from damage.
  3. Measure and verify product dimensions, orientation, print, and assembly features against job specifications; stop and escalate nonconforming product.
  4. Maintain accurate counts and organized work-in-process so completed quantities, scrap, and rework can be identified and communicated.
  5. Operate approved hand tools and light production equipment safely and report damaged tools or unsafe conditions promptly.
  6. Stack, pack, unitize, and move finished product according to load configuration and handling requirements.
  7. Meet established expectations for output, accuracy, scrap, and safe work practices while maintaining consistent workmanship.
  8. Keep the work area supplied, clean, and orderly and communicate material shortages, quality concerns, equipment issues, or production delays promptly.
  9. Support changeovers, cleanup, and other production areas as trained to help meet daily schedule requirements.
  10. Special projects and assignments as business dictates

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities



SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS



  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 0-2 years of manufacturing, assembly, packaging, or related production experience preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret production specifications, work instructions, load tags, layouts, or other job documentation applicable to the role.
  • Must be able to read a tape measure to 1/16"
  • Ability to work safely and effectively in a fast-paced corrugated manufacturing environment and to work a flexible schedule, including overtime as production needs require.
  • Must have attention to detail and focused concentration.
  • Must be able to complete tasks that require a particular speed or productivity quota.
  • Must be able to adhere to process protocol and must be able to apply established protocols in a timely manner.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS



  • Regularly required to stand and walk for prolonged periods and to bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive hand and arm motions.
  • Regularly uses hands to handle materials, tools, controls, and corrugated products; frequent reaching with hands and arms is required.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move materials and finished product consistent with assigned production work, including repetitive lifting; team lifting or material-handling equipment should be used when appropriate.
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus to inspect product and safely work around equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT



  • Work is performed in a corrugated manufacturing and warehouse environment with regular exposure to moving mechanical equipment and powered industrial trucks.
  • The production environment may be loud and requires use of designated hearing protection and other required personal protective equipment.
  • The environment is subject to seasonal temperature changes and paper dust generated by converting operations.
  • Work priorities and production demands may change throughout the shift based on customer requirements, machine availability, and schedule needs.
