Licensed Low Voltage Journeyman Technician
Santa Teresa, NM
Schedule/Shift: 7:00 AM start; approximately 50-60 hours per week
Pay: $20.00-$40.00 per hour

Job Summary

The Licensed Low Voltage Technician performs installation, termination, testing, and related work on low-voltage, telecommunications, alarm, and structured cabling systems. This position requires a New Mexico ES-3J or ES-7J Journeyman Certificate or an out-of-state license that may qualify for New Mexico equivalency. The role requires extended onsite assignments and the ability to perform work in accordance with applicable electrical, low-voltage, telecommunications, and safety standards. Candidates should be prepared to work approximately 50-60 hours per week during onsite assignments.

Job Responsibilities




  • Install boxes, cable, equipment, and other components associated with low-voltage systems.



  • Install and terminate low-voltage equipment and devices.



  • Install telecommunications cable, junction boxes, conductors, support structures, and related equipment as applicable.



  • Terminate conductors and install telecommunications equipment and devices.



  • Test installed low-voltage and telecommunications systems and equipment.



  • Perform work within the authorized scope of the applicable journeyman classification.



  • Follow applicable NEC, NFPA 72, telecommunications, low-voltage, and workplace safety requirements.



  • Maintain quality and productivity standards throughout onsite assignments.



  • Coordinate with supervisors and other trades to complete assigned work safely and efficiently.




Job Requirements




  • Minimum 4,000 hours (approximately two years) of qualifying experience applicable to the ES-3J and/or ES-7J classification.



  • Qualifying experience must have been obtained within the most recent 10 years.



  • Current New Mexico ES-3J or ES-7J Journeyman Certificate, or an applicable out-of-state license that may qualify for New Mexico certification or equivalency.



  • ES-3J candidates should have relevant experience with sound, intercommunication, electrical alarm, low-voltage, and systems operating at 50 volts or less.



  • ES-7J candidates should have relevant experience with telephone communication and telephone interconnect systems.



  • Ability to install, terminate, and test low-voltage or telecommunications cabling, equipment, and devices.



  • Working knowledge of applicable low-voltage, NEC, NFPA 72, and telecommunications standards.



  • Ability to provide documentation necessary to verify applicable work experience and licensing qualifications.



  • Ability to work the required schedule and meet onsite attendance expectations.

Additional Job Details (Commute, Attendance, etc.)




  • Position type: Contract-to-hire after approximately 640 hours.



  • Work begins at approximately 7:00 AM.



  • Approximately 50-60 work hours are expected per week.



  • Onsite assignments typically last approximately 4-6 weeks.



  • Extended onsite assignments may include a long weekend at home from Friday through Sunday, with return to the worksite by Monday.



  • Out-of-state licenses are subject to review for New Mexico equivalency and certification requirements.
