Transportation Driver

Southminster is seeking a dependable, resident-focused Transportation Driver to safely transport residents to appointments, outings, and other destinations throughout Charlotte and Mecklenburg County. This role is ideal for a courteous, patient professional who enjoys supporting older adults and providing excellent service on the road.

What You'll Do



  • Safely transport residents to scheduled appointments, local destinations, and company outings within the established driving zone.
  • Assist residents as they enter and exit vehicles, including elevator and wheelchair assistance as needed.
  • Provide a friendly, patient, and professional experience for residents and staff.
  • Operate company vehicles, including standard sedans and the Southminster bus.
  • Use a vehicle cell phone for work-related communication as needed.
  • Maintain vehicle readiness by fueling vehicles and submitting keys, gas receipts, and company credit cards to the Director of Housekeeping.
  • Report the condition of vehicles at the end of each driving day.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of streets and routes throughout Charlotte and Mecklenburg County.
  • Occasionally travel out of town.
  • Work flexible hours as needed, including occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Perform other transportation-related duties as assigned.


Qualifications



  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Prior professional driving experience required.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Valid North Carolina CDL with no prior violations required; Class P endorsement preferred.
  • Ability to safely operate a standard sedan and Southminster bus.
  • Ability to assist residents with mobility needs, including pushing wheelchairs and providing physical assistance when appropriate.
  • Strong customer-service skills, patience, professionalism, and reliability.
  • Ability to pass required pre-employment and ongoing drug and alcohol testing.

Schedule

This position may require occasional flexible scheduling, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and occasional out-of-town travel.
