Shop Superintendent (Sheet Metal)

RK Industries is hiring a full-time Shop Superintendent (Sheet Metal) in Denver to oversee shop employees and ensure the CAD/FAB process consistently produces high-quality sheet metal products that meet or exceed customer requirements. This role works closely with Project Managers, field personnel, schedulers, Work Order Processors, the CAD department, detailing subcontractors, and trucking partners to deliver complete projects safely and on time.

The Shop Superintendent also supports the growth of shop employees by strengthening their leadership, technical, and organizational skills through coaching, performance reviews, and development planning.

• Supervise shop employees to ensure the CAD/FAB process produces work that meets or exceeds customer requirements.
• Maintain controlled conditions for CAD/FAB activities and drive continuous improvement across the process.
• Review drawings and schedules and identify scope changes resulting from shop drawing revisions.
• Direct employees and oversee the bundling, staging, and complete shipment of materials.
• Coordinate delivery dates with trucking partners.
• Partner with Project Managers, field personnel, schedulers, Work Order Processors, the CAD department, and detailing subcontractors.
• Support employee development through coaching, performance reviews, development planning, and equipment training.
• Assist the Shop Operations Manager with hiring, evaluations, and terminations of shop personnel.
• Hold weekly safety meetings and daily toolbox talks.
• Work with RK Industries' safety department to maintain a safe shop environment.
• Ensure accurate allocation of shop labor costs, including timecards.
• Maintain consistent quality and productivity.
• Keep the shop and yard safe, clean, and organized.
• Ensure shop staff are properly trained on equipment to help limit repair costs.

• College or university degree with seven years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of skills and experience.
• Advanced knowledge and techniques within the function, with the ability to apply applicable principles and practices across a broad variety of assignments.
• Ability to make independent decisions regarding complex work and methods.
• Ability to work with guidance focused primarily on overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters.
• Ability to serve as a liaison to groups within and outside the organization and act independently on matters related to the function.
• Experience providing indirect supervision.

• Comply with all company policies and procedures.
• Take responsibility for safety and health and stop work when an unsafe condition is present. Immediately notify a supervisor so the hazard can be corrected.
• Implement and maintain all required safety and health practices and training, including RK Mechanical Orientation, shop-specific orientation, CPR/First Aid/AED/Bloodborne Pathogens, Hazard Identification and Reporting, and OSHA 30.

• Ability to occasionally lift and carry 51-75 pounds, frequently exert 31-45 pounds of force, and constantly exert up to 16-22 pounds of force to move objects.
• Ability to climb and maintain balance on stairs, ladders, and scaffolds while carrying tools and equipment.
• Ability to see naturally or with correction.
• Ability to use arms and hands to reach, handle, manipulate, and install heavy objects and materials.
• Ability to balance, kneel, squat, crouch, bend, lean, stand, walk, climb, dig, backfill, and compact.
