The Performance Improvement Healthcare Consulting team helps healthcare organizations achieve sustainable results by addressing margin erosion through targeted improvement strategies. By aligning strategic, operational, and financial initiatives, they identify opportunities and support leadership in implementing impactful changes. With a focus on strengthening margins, the team empowers providers to fulfill their mission and thrive in today's evolving healthcare environment.
What You Will Do:
  • Serve as the engagement leader and primary client relationship manager for physician services engagements, acting as the single accountable owner for scope execution, timeline, client communication, project economics, completion, and overall client experience.
  • Lead complex physician compensation, alignment, and Fair Market Value (FMV) engagements by integrating operational, financial, market, strategic, and regulatory considerations into clear, defensible recommendations.
  • Function as a trusted advisor to physician executives, health system leadership, legal counsel, and governing boards regarding physician enterprise strategy, compensation design, provider alignment, and regulatory compliance matters.
  • Develop and expand client relationships by identifying emerging needs, facilitating strategic discussions, and helping organizations navigate physician enterprise challenges beyond the immediate engagement scope.
  • Drive growth within existing client relationships through proactive identification of opportunities related to the broader set of available and applicable firm services.
  • Oversee the development and review of complex analyses, executive-level presentations, FMV assessments, compensation models, and strategic recommendations while maintaining ultimate accountability for engagement quality and conclusions.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams across multiple simultaneous engagements, balancing client service, team development, quality standards, and project economics.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop managers, consultants, and analysts while fostering a culture of accountability, ownership, continuous improvement, and professional growth.
  • Contribute to practice development by enhancing methodologies, developing intellectual capital, supporting recruiting efforts, participating in thought leadership activities, and helping shape the future direction of the Physician Services practice.
  • Support business development activities including proposal development, client pursuits, conference participation, relationship cultivation, and market-facing initiatives designed to grow the practice.
  • Serve as a role model for firm culture, client service excellence, professional judgment, and collaboration across the broader Healthcare Performance Improvement practice.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Healthcare Administration, Business, Economics, or similar
  • 8+ years of experience in healthcare experience
  • Prior consulting or advisory experience supporting healthcare organizations
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Physician compensation design and administration
    • Provider employment and alignment models
    • Fair Market Value and regulatory compliance assessments
    • Hospital-physician arrangements
    • Physician enterprise operations
    • Ambulatory or clinic operations
    • Healthcare financial performance improvement
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage project economics, and oversee multiple concurrent engagements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to travel up to 50% as required by business needs
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree (MBA, MHA, MPH, or similar)
  • Experience supporting business development, practice growth, or market-facing initiatives
  • Experience presenting to executive leadership, physician leadership, boards, or governing bodies
  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or advanced healthcare analytics tools
  • Experience mentoring and developing consulting professionals

Illinois Wage Transparency
Pursuant to Illinois' Equal Pay Act, the salary range displayed is for the Illinois market. The salary for this role will be based on the experience, education, and skill set of the individual for the position. Non-exempt/hourly positions will be eligible for time and half pay for employees that work over 40 hours in a workweek. Benefits are eligibility-based and could include group health plan benefits, 401(K), bonuses, profit-sharing contributions, flexible time off, and parental leave.
