THE POSITION

The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs is seeking an Installation Roads and Equipment Supervisor, DMVA who enjoys leading hands-on work and coordinating important projects. This role allows you to support training operations by keeping roads, ranges, and equipment in strong working condition at Fort Indiantown Gap. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position focuses on coordinating projects and supervising the operation of heavy equipment to support land maintenance and training activities at Fort Indiantown Gap. It plays a key part in keeping ranges, trails, and training terrain functional, and well maintained. As an Installation Roads and Equipment Supervisor, DMVA, you will perform the following duties:

  • Training Area and Trail Maintenance: Maintain training lands, trails, and related features
  • Equipment Operation: Operate tractors, bucket loaders, bulldozers, dump trucks, and other large equipment
  • Troop Coordination: Direct troop labor efforts for projects involving National Guard and Army Reserve personnel
  • Project Planning: Develop work plans outlining timelines, equipment, and resources for current and future projects
  • Land Stewardship: Perform tasks such as berm repair, drainage maintenance, brush clearing, and invasive plant removal
  • Safety Oversight: Enforce safety policies and postings, oversee use of protective equipment, and ensure staff avoids hazardous areas

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 1st shift (7:00 AM to 3:00 PM), Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience in the maintenance or construction of roads or highways, including one year of experience in the operation of bulldozers, backhoes or other related heavy construction equipment.

Post Employment Requirement:

  • You must obtain within six months of hire and maintain a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License with the Air Brake Restriction (L) removed or equivalent.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must obtain a tanker endorsement within six months of hire.
  • You must possess a valid federal or state-issued photo ID and pass a favorable NCIC screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Possession of a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License
  • Experience in repair project management
  • Prior supervisory experience
