Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center GW Health is the first new full-service hospital in Washington, DC in more than 20 years, integrating clinical care with existing community providers, Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC's), The George Washington University Hospital, and our Urgent Care Center in Ward 8. This integrated delivery system is a robust network of care for all District residents, but more importantly, it ensures that residents of Wards 7 and 8 have access to high quality care in their community.

This full-service hospital includes 136 beds (with the ability to expand to 184 beds), a verified trauma center, adult and pediatric emergency departments, maternal health and newborn delivery, an ambulatory pavilion for clinic visits and other outpatient services, a 500-car garage, and a helipad for emergency transport.

We are currently seeking a RN Clinical Supervisor - Medial Surgical (Full Time-Days)

The RN Clinical Supervisor - Medical Surgical Unit is responsible for providing clinical leadership, operational oversight, and staff supervision to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care. This role serves as a clinical resource for nursing staff, coordinates daily unit operations, promotes evidence-based practice, and supports organizational goals related to quality, patient safety, employee engagement, and patient experience.
The Clinical Supervisor collaborates with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, and hospital leadership to maintain efficient workflow while ensuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.

Job Duties/Responsbilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate the daily operations of the Medical Surgical Unit during assigned shifts.
  • Provide direct leadership, coaching, mentoring, and support to Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Nursing Assistants, and Unit Secretaries.
  • Serve as a clinical expert and resource for complex patient care situations.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels based on patient acuity, census, and staffing guidelines.
  • Assist with patient assignments and facilitate patient throughput, admissions, discharges, and transfers.
  • Promote a culture of patient safety, accountability, teamwork, and excellence.
  • Monitor compliance with hospital policies, infection prevention standards, and nursing practice guidelines.
  • Respond to clinical emergencies and assist with rapid response or code situations as needed.
  • Collaborate with physicians, case management, pharmacy, respiratory therapy, rehabilitation, and ancillary departments to coordinate patient care.
  • Monitor quality indicators including:
    • Falls prevention
    • Hospital-acquired infections (HAIs)
    • Pressure injury prevention
    • Medication safety
    • Patient satisfaction
    • Readmission reduction
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and performance improvement projects.
  • Assist with employee evaluations, performance coaching, corrective action, and professional development.
  • Support orientation, onboarding, competency validation, and ongoing education of nursing staff.
  • Ensure accurate documentation in the electronic medical record.
  • Participate in department meetings, leadership committees, and hospital initiatives.
  • Maintain compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, OSHA, and state regulatory requirements.
  • Promote employee engagement, retention, and professional growth.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • DC RN License required
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of medical surgical/telemetry required
  • Minimum of 2 years of previous leadership, charge nurse, or supervisory experience preferred
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
