TouchDesigner Artist / Experience Developer This is a full-time, hybrid direct hire role located in Portland, OR. Overview
Our client, a global experience design agency, specializes in creating immersive experiences that blend creative technology, projection, motion, and interactive storytelling across physical environments. The team works on large-scale installations for major brands and cultural institutions, using real-time visual systems to turn spaces into responsive, engaging experiences. This role is ideal for someone who combines artistic vision with technical problem-solving and enjoys bringing interactive concepts to life on site and in the studio.
Job Description
In this role, you will develop generative and interactive systems in TouchDesigner for client projects and internal innovation work.
You'll partner with designers, engineers, strategists, and clients to prototype, optimize, and deploy responsive experiences across projection, motion, sensing, and display environments. This includes handling installation support, solving technical issues on site, and ensuring systems perform reliably in real-world settings.
You will also contribute to creative direction, collaborate across disciplines, and help push the team's technical capabilities forward. Our Ideal Candidate
- Proficiency in TouchDesigner with a portfolio showing real-time visuals and interactive installations.
- Creative background in visual arts or new media, paired with strong technical problem-solving skills.
- Passion for generative design, node-based programming, and experiential storytelling with a strong foundation in real-time systems.
- Proficient in Python, browser-based web development, and creative technology workflows.
- Familiar with projection mapping, LED systems, display technologies, AV integration, and live data feeds.
- Skilled in collaborating with technical teams, designers, engineers, and clients.
- Able to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities, timelines, and stakeholder needs.
- Strong written and verbal communication with exceptional attention to detail.
- Comfortable troubleshooting on-site and traveling for installation support.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- Background in visual arts, new media, creative technology, or interactive experience development.
