A Typical Day:

  • Providing continuous, highly accurate monitoring and interpretation of adult and pediatric cardiac rhythms for patients with telemetry orders.
  • Observing and interpreting arrhythmias across central monitoring stations with a high degree of visual focus and accuracy.
  • Identifying, analyzing, and documenting any significant or subtle changes in a patient's cardiac rhythm baseline over time.
  • Reporting critical rhythm changes and clinical alerts immediately to the attending nurse or physician.
  • Multitasking effectively and prioritizing urgent situations calmly in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Documenting communication with nursing staff clearly within the electronic medical record system to ensure rapid clinical response.
  • Maintaining comprehensive handoff communication during shift-to-shift operations to ensure seamless continuity of patient tracking.

This role might be for you if:

  • You are passionate about maintaining a highly vigilant, precise, and safety-focused central monitoring environment.
  • You keep yourself current on cardiac rhythm interpretation standards, telemetry equipment upgrades, and hospital notification protocols.
  • You possess strong multitasking abilities and can prioritize life-saving clinical data during urgent situations.
  • You recognize and respect the impact your technical accuracy and vigilance have on patient tracking and overall clinical safety.
  • You believe that patient safety and operational excellence are optimized through open communication, swift reporting, and rigorous attention to detail.

To be considered:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • EKG certification or Cardiac Monitoring Technician Certification is strongly preferred.
  • Valid Basic Life Support (CPR) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain deep focus, manage multiple screens, and document detailed compliance data.
