DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This trainee position will prepare you to operate construction and maintenance equipment while carrying out essential manual labor tasks for highway and bridge upkeep. As a CDL Operator Trainee, you will perform the following duties:

  • Equipment Training: Learn to operate heavy trucks and loaders and complete required checks for safe use
  • Tool Operation: Use motorized and non motorized tools to complete maintenance tasks and report damaged equipment
  • Safety Compliance: Follow proper safety procedures, make observations, and report hazards or incidents
  • Environmental Duties: Apply environmental protection practices required for maintenance activities
  • General Labor: Carry out various manual labor duties on highway or bridge crews

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Work schedule may vary and overtime may be required during weather events.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Special Requirements:

  • This position requires possession of an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver's License or equivalent.
  • This position requires possession of an active Pennsylvania Class A or B Commercial Driver Learner's Permit on the first day of work.
  • This position required possession of an active Medical Examiner's Certificate in accordance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Regulations by the first day of work.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
