Your Role

As a Design Resource Librarian and FF&E Specialist, you will manage the daily operations of the Austin Office Resource Library, while providing reference, research, education, and instructional services to Austin team members.

This involves the researching formation on architecture and interior design trends, products, materials, publications, periodicals. You will be responsible for procuring, updating, and filing reference and sample materials. The qualified candidate will have knowledge of, and experience using, a variety of internal and external research and product resources to seek out future trends. You will review new products and innovations, and host learning events.

What You Will Do

Resource Librarian Responsibilities (approximately 24 hours per week)

  • Curate a library that is inclusive of top quality, aesthetically superior, and sustainable building and interior design materials
  • Curate a library that meet the needs of design teams and that is consistent with other Gensler South Central Regional libraries
  • Organize materials in an orderly way that gives the design teams safe and easy access to those materials
  • Provide visually compelling, rotating product displays and/or vignettes
  • Designate and coordinate project layout space and storage within the library
  • Create and maintain a library budget
  • Maintain existing vendor relationships and establish new contacts with manufacturers and vendors. This includes introducing new materials, coordinating displays and product presentations, and Continuing Education Classes (CEUs)
  • Work with manufacturers and their representatives to cull out discontinued material from the library and to regularly update their products on the shelves in the library
  • Coordinate the returning/refiling and/or donating of discarded and discontinued materials
  • Maintain the Gensler vendor directory (Designer Pages) with current vendor contact information as made available from the manufacturers
  • Educate new and existing staff on proper library procedures and protocols and how to use the Designer Pages and Materials Bank
  • Assist design teams in locating materials and information, and assist in product research
  • Monitor the industry related digital periodicals to follow current trends and assess upcoming trends and how they affect the ever changing assortment of materials
  • Attend educational seminars, tradeshows and industry networking events
  • In addition to Austin, you will oversee the San Antonio library (responsibilities as above)

FF&E Specialist Responsibilities (approximately 16 hours per week)

  • Utilize knowledge of contract and custom furniture and technology, lighting solutions, finishes, materials, color selections, and ID specifications
  • Produce furniture plans, specifications, material selections and schedules needed for construction documentation independently or with minimal supervision
  • Produce mood, material and design presentations independently or with minimal supervision
  • Independently create material palettes and inspiration image boards

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Interior Design or related creative field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Interior Design or related industry
  • Strong organizational, prioritizing, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal written and verbal communication skills
  • Excel at developing client and vendor relationships
  • Experience and understanding of the interior design and architecture industry
  • Excellent color sense, and great passion for design
  • Detailed understanding of FF&E design and deliverables
  • Passionate, self-starting, dedicated, efficient, creative
  • Knowledge of and keen interest in event planning
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and InDesign, Revit, Photoshop, and Bluebeam
  • Knowledge of trade resources and vendors
  • Initiative and attention to details
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50lbs of materials
  • Willing and able to travel to San Antonio office

*This is an in-person position. Successful candidates will be located in Austin, Texas.*
