Salary: $45.80-49.82 Hourly
Schedule: 2:30-11pm, with possibility of need for AM support A major healthcare client of Aquent is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Patient Registrar to join their team. The Registrar is responsible for registering and processing all patient types in an accurate, timely, and empathetic manner. Key core processes include:
- Obtaining patient demographic information.
- Verifying insurance information and patient eligibility.
- Securing patient signatures on all required legal and medical documents.
- Collecting patient co-pays and deductibles.
What You Will Do
- Admissions & Compliance: Complete the patient admission/registration process mandated by EMTALA law, ensuring strict adherence to internal Patient Access Services (PAS) policies and procedures.
- Financial Processing: Obtain and document required deductibles, co-payments, and deposits; secure signatures on all registration-related documents.
- Data Management: Scan all related documentation into the electronic data management system before the end of your shift. Utilize online systems, direct payer websites, and eligibility verification tools to obtain insurance and patient demographic information.
- Efficiency & Prioritization: Perform quality, accurate registrations during high-volume periods. Prioritize job functions effectively to improve customer service, operational efficiency, and financial accuracy.
- Collaboration: Maintain strong, cooperative relationships with clinical staff and fellow registration team members. Provide clinical staff with necessary wristbands, face sheets, and charts in a timely manner. Update nursing notifications and crossovers promptly.
- Customer Service: Provide sensitive, timely, and professional customer service. Appropriately manage visitor authorizations and distribute Notice of Privacy Practices in accordance with HIPAA regulations and company policy.
- Adaptability & Problem Solving: Maintain a solution-oriented demeanor under pressure. Ensure office equipment is in working order and remain familiar with system downtime procedures and workaround solutions.
Education Qualifications
- Minimum: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred: Associate Degree (AA) and/or bilingual skills.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Technical Skills: Ability to type 30 WPM and navigate multiple computer programs simultaneously.
- Communication: Clear, professional verbal and written communication skills; strong, empathetic customer service skills.
- Work Ethic: Self-motivated, collaborative, and able to produce high-quality work with minimal direct supervision.
- Physical & Environment: Ability to work at both stationary and mobile workstations (requiring sitting and standing) and collaborate effectively with a culturally diverse staff in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility: Flexible availability to accommodate initial training and ongoing shift schedules.
The target hiring compensation range for this role is $45.80 to $49.82 an hour. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
