Brief Summary of Work for this Position
The Assistant Video Coordinator for UNCW Men's Basketball provides comprehensive support to the coaching staff with a primary emphasis on video operations, film analysis, and practice support. This position works closely with the Video Coordinator to ensure practices and games are efficiently filmed, edited, and organized while assisting coaches with scouting and player development. The Graduate Assistant is expected to be an active member of the daily operations of the basketball program and contribute to a championship-level culture.

Video & Film Operations

  • Assist the Video Coordinator with filming all practices, games, workouts, and team activities.
  • Upload, organize, and maintain video files using SportsCode and Synergy.
  • Break down practice and game film for coaches using tagging and coding software.
  • Create individual player edits, teaching clips, opponent scout edits, and highlight packages.
  • Prepare film presentations and playlists for team meetings and position groups.
  • Ensure all video equipment is properly maintained and operational.


Basketball Operations

  • Assist coaches with scouting preparation and opponent film analysis.
  • Compile statistical reports and video data to assist in game planning.
  • Maintain organized digital video libraries and scouting databases.
  • Assist with practice planning and daily basketball operations.
  • Support recruiting operations through video organization and evaluation projects as permitted by NCAA rules.

Practice Responsibilities

  • Be actively involved in all team practices and workouts.
  • Rebound during shooting workouts and individual skill development sessions.
  • Assist with practice setup and breakdown, including equipment preparation.
  • Operate game and practice clocks when needed.
  • Help facilitate drills and provide support to coaching staff throughout practice.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Utilize Microsoft Excel to organize reports, player information, and basketball analytics.
  • Assist with scheduling and organizational projects as assigned.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding team information and scouting materials.
  • Complete additional responsibilities as assigned by the coaching staff.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and admission into a UNCW graduate program.
  • Strong knowledge of the game of basketball.
  • Proficiency with Synergy Sports and Hudl Sportscode.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced Division I environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and travel with the team as required.


Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience as a student manager, graduate assistant, video coordinator, or basketball operations staff member.
  • Experience breaking down basketball film and creating scouting edits.
  • Familiarity with NCAA Division I rules and regulations.
  • Experience with basketball analytics and advanced video technology.
