Job Title: A&P Mechanic


Reports To: Production Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Department: Maintenance

POSITION SUMMARY:



The Aircraft Mechanic services, repairs and modifies aircraft structures, structural components, flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components. High school diploma or equivalent required. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe & Power Plant (A&P) license is required. Under minimal supervision, services and repairs aircraft airframe, engine, components and sub-systems, in accordance with company standards and applicable FAA regulations and predetermined company processes and procedures. Provides technical assistance and guidance to other mechanics with less experience, as directed.

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES




  • Troubleshoot, repair, replace, and modify aircraft structures, components and associated equipment. This includes the rigging of flight controls, engines and propellers as applicable.
  • Read and interpret original equipment manufacturer (OEM) technical manuals, service bulletins, airworthiness directives, local directives and other specifications to determine FAA approved maintenance requirements, methods and procedures.
  • Examine engines for component damage and security, heat damage and fluid leaks.
  • Inspect turbine blades to detect foreign object damage (FOD), material wear or failure through visual and borescope.
  • Conduct testing of engine operation to locate source of malfunction and performs operational checks.
  • Replace worn, damaged and failed components, such as fuel controls and starter/generators.




  • Perform miscellaneous duties to service aircraft, including but not limited to, change and/or inspect fuel and oil filters, cleaning screens, aircraft lubrication, and wheel and tire maintenance. Charge and service Nicad batteries, aircraft, and engine compressor wash, clean and service on-board water and sanitation systems. Mix paint and apply for touch-up of aircraft and components.
  • Maintain aircraft maintenance documentation to the Customer, FAA and King Aerospace's standards. This includes the use of aviation maintenance management software as provided.
  • Comply with all safety requirements and use all mandated safety equipment in accordance with the Customer, OSHA and King Aerospace's requirements.
  • Assist coworkers to successfully perform job duties and functions when necessary.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned based on experience, qualifications, and business needs.



QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:




  • Required: High school diploma or GED required.
  • Required: Five (5) years of experience in the field consistent with the requirements set forth in Essential Duties and Responsibilities.
  • Required: Valid and current FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License.
  • Required: Five (5) years of aircraft maintenance experience as a licensed A&P mechanic. Years for military aviation maintenance experience may be used in combination with licensed A&P experience to meet the five (5) year requirement.
  • Required: Two to three years of Boeing 737NG hands on MPD task experience. Boeing 737NG Gen Fam course preferred but not required. Familiar with Boeing AMM, IPC, and SB's.
  • Required: Valid state driver's license.
  • Required: Must have the ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance, Active Security Clearance preferred.



COMMUNICATION SKILLS



Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers.



MATHEMATICAL SKILLS



Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic math and algebra.



REASONING AND PROBLEM-SOLVING SKILLS



Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions.



COMPUTER SKILLS:



Microsoft Office Suite. Familiarity with aviation industry maintenance management and logistics information systems.



OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:



This position requires a SECRET government security clearance and a favorable personal background check. This position requires varied work shifts and the ability to work in a highly structured environment. Must adhere to KING AEROSPACE Cornerstone Principles.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS



  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to spend extended periods sitting or standing while using office equipment and computers.
  • The employee is required to use verbal communication and auditory senses.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Vision requirements may include close vision.



EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of required pre-employment screenings, which may include a background check and drug screening, in accordance with applicable laws and company policies. Must have the ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance, Active Security Clearance preferred.
