The Cancer Institute at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for a (Hybrid) Program Coordinator Senior with Cancer Prevention & Control.

About the Opportunity

Participates in and contributes to the mission, vision, and strategic plan of WVU Cancer Institute (WVU CI) and the Department of Cancer Prevention and Control (CPC). This position is located in CPC and duties may include other CPC or WVUCI projects. Oversees aspects of program development and management for specified projects. Recruits, maintains, and directs a program team to meet all deliverables. CPC serves the entire state of West Virginia, and this position requires travel throughout the state.

This position is based in Morgantown, WV. Employees are expected to work on-site a minimum of three (3) days per week, with the opportunity to work remotely on approved days in accordance with departmental needs and University policy.

What You'll Do

Program management, implementation, and innovation
* Maintains positive relationships with granting agencies; develops and maintains partnerships with state-wide strategic stakeholders, community, and professional partners.
* Manages the design and dissemination of innovative, culturally appropriate, evidence-based programs and services. Provides direction and expertise in program planning, implementation, evaluation, and applied research.
* Builds and maintains a strong team to meet program deliverables. Hires, trains, supports, and reviews all staff activities and ensures staff are equipped to carry out job responsibilities. Meets regularly with team to evaluate and facilitate activities. Promotes staff trainings and conducts annual reviews.
* Prepares and delivers new proposals for funding and ensures the continuation of existing programs, grants, and contracts.
* Oversees the fiscal requirements of all grants, contracts, and subcontracts and ensures the integrity of all revenues and expenditures.
* Tracks program progress, assessing strengths/weaknesses, and develops and implements strategies to improve outcomes and deliverables.
* Performs various support duties, responds to inquiries and resolves matters of significant complexity; requires decision making and resourcefulness within available guides and precedents.
* Serves as a member of the CPC Operations team.
Participates in Cancer Prevention and Control (CPC) activities
* Participates in the implementation of the mission, vision, and strategic plan for the WVU Cancer Institute and Cancer Prevention and Control.
* Attends statewide initiatives such as Mountains of Hope, community events, and partner collaborations, etc.
* Develops and delivers presentations on cancer screening, health literacy, and cultural competency as needed.
* Represents WVU Cancer Institute and/or Cancer Prevention and Control at state, regional, and national meetings, and conferences.
* Assists with development of cancer educational and small media resources.
* Submits articles, abstracts, and posters to promote programmatic work and outreach of CPC.
* Seeks and applies for additional funding opportunities for CPC projects.
* Collaborates with other CPC staff and programs to extend the reach of CPC.
* Participates in and contributes to regular CPC staff meetings.

Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of management and/or supervisory experience.
  • Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.
  • All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong program management and oversight skills.
  • Strong supervisory skills and ability to manage multiple levels of staff.
  • Skills in, or knowledge of, professional principles, legal and/or reporting requirements affecting area of responsibility.
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction of individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organization and multi-tasking skills
  • Skilled in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Skilled at writing correspondence and preparing reports.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill in using statistical software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in multidisciplinary team environment and to coordinate participation of team members from various backgrounds.
  • Group facilitation, mediation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to interact sensitively, effectively, and professionally with persons from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, educational, racial, ethnic, and professional backgrounds and persons of all ages and orientations.
  • Ability to travel extensively with occasional overnight stays.
  • Ability to maintain proper attendance and punctuality standards.
  • Willingness to seek consultation and supervision as needed.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and with significant degree of independence.
