Title: Investment Ops Analyst

Location: Hybrid in Newark, NJ (3 days in office)

Duration: 6 months (Possibility of conversion)


Job Summary:

We are seeking an Investment Accounting Analyst to support the accounting and reporting of alternative investment portfolios. This role is responsible for validating portfolio and transaction-level activity, maintaining accurate accounting records, performing reconciliations, and supporting financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting foundation, analytical mindset, and experience working with investment portfolios in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Validate portfolio and transaction-level activity, including:
  • Trade settlements
  • Income payments
  • Corporate actions
  • Deal restructurings
  • Collect and review financial documents related to alternative investments.
  • Analyze financial statements for Limited Partnerships (LPs) and Joint Ventures (JVs).
  • Process cash transactions and ensure accurate recording in accounting systems.
  • Prepare, review, and verify journal entries.
  • Perform reconciliations between subledger systems, general ledger, custody banks, trade systems, and financial statements.
  • Process equity pickup and loss accounting entries.
  • Ensure cash balances in the general ledger accurately reflect bank activity.
  • Monitor data integrity and resolve discrepancies.
  • Prepare reports for internal stakeholders.
  • Participate in analysis, process improvements, and special projects.
  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end accounting activities.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial statements.
  • Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Private Equity or Alternative Investments.
  • Familiarity with investment accounting concepts.
  • Experience with investment accounting or financial systems such as:
  • Oracle General Ledger
  • Investran
  • PAM (Portfolio Accounting Management)
