We seek out new ideas for tackling complex problems and celebrate achieving the improbable. We value each person's unique talents and synergize them to create meaningful impact and sustainable solutions for our customers and our world.

Bold. Energetic. Ingenious. Genuine. If these qualities describe you, we'd love for you to join Ingevity!

Are you passionate about joining a team whose manufacturing is transforming renewable resources into high-impact solutions? If so, then this Area Coordinator position with Ingevity may be the role for you!

As a frontline leader, you'll play a key role in keeping operations safe, efficient, and reliable-while developing your team and making a real impact on continuous improvement. Your work directly supports the production of sustainable, wood-derived materials used in critical applications-from cleaner air in vehicles to cleaner water. You won't just be running a process-you'll be helping create solutions that make a difference.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead daily operations by setting clear direction, reviewing priorities, and walking the process to ensure safe, efficient performance

  • Proactively identify and address safety risks through regular inspections and team engagement

  • Partner with engineering to improve equipment reliability, production efficiency, and product quality

  • Train and develop operators-helping new team members get up to speed and ensuring everyone is confident with new processes and equipment

  • Monitor process performance and trends, taking action to resolve safety, environmental, or quality concerns

  • Support and coach your team through troubleshooting and problem-solving to keep production on track

  • Provide day-to-day leadership for hourly team members, including feedback, coaching, and performance management

  • Coordinate maintenance activities to keep equipment running safely and reliably

  • Ensure all safety systems are followed, including LOTO and work permitting processes

  • Take on additional responsibilities that support team and plant success

What You Bring:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent (a technical degree is a plus)

  • At least 3 years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment; prior leadership or supervisory experience is helpful

  • Experience leading or supporting hourly teams (union experience is a plus)

  • Comfort using computers for tasks like data entry, reporting, and document creation

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions and lead others through challenges

  • Experience training or mentoring others and helping teams succeed

  • A working understanding of maintenance practices (mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation)

  • Knowledge of safety, health, and environmental practices-and a commitment to doing things the right way

What to Expect Physically

  • You'll stay active in this role-climbing stairs and ladders, working at heights, and being on your feet for extended periods

  • Ability to stand or sit for up to 12-hour shifts

  • Working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, etc.)

Your Work Environment:

  • You'll split your time between the plant floor and office work (roughly 50/50), giving you a balance of hands-on and administrative responsibilities

  • You'll work in an industrial setting around large equipment and moving machinery

  • This is a fast-paced, team-oriented environment where collaboration and communication are key
