POSITION SUMMARY:

The Plant Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day performance of the plant and underground operations. He/she is accountable for the entire plant operations with overall responsibility for plant safety performance people engagement, production, maintenance, mining, quality, compliance, financial performance / cost control as well as all other production-related activities of the plant. The plant manager must be an engaged person that can handle the demands of the underground operation and continually balance the competing needs of production and maintenance obligations. He/she must possess the skills needed to develop and lead a team in a plant & mining environment. All personnel will be responsible for the facilities' Safe Food initiative based on FSMA and Current Good Manufacturing Practices.

RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS:

Ensure the most safe, efficient, and economical operation of the plant

  • Manage the plant in a manner consistent with the vision of LNA
  • Manage the output of the plant in a way that maximizes reserves and efficiently utilizes all plant assets
  • Involved in establishing the targets and priorities for the plant to ensure consistent performance around all plant KPI's (mining, production, maintenance, quality and cost)
  • Responsible for the execution of the objectives at the plant consistent with Company and Corporate objectives; the development and the implementation of a strategic plan to meet the objectives; and the monthly and annual review of objective results.

Champion plant and community communications

  • Communicate effectively with all employees on all levels
  • Clearly establish and communicate the vision for the plant
  • Serves as a potential Company's representative or designates a representative from the plant to serve as a representative in all areas related to the business community, the industry, the surrounding community.

Ensure consistent product and process quality

  • Timely response to customer demands
  • Monitor overall plant performance for production and quality standards
  • Ensures that all products produced at the plant and shipped to customers from the plant meet quality and customer requirements.

Budgeting (Preparation, Execution and Control)

  • Involved in developing and control profits, plans and budget
  • Prepare the initial capital project requests consistent with the operating and maintenance needs of the plant
  • Monitors manpower utilization at the plant and reviews for approval all requests for increases in the workforce.

Teamwork and Team Development

  • Delegates authority to key team members in safety, finance, mining, production, maintenance, processing, quality control, production control, shipping, and other related operations and administrative functions.
  • Coordinate plant activities through planning with other members of the plant management team to ensure plant objectives are met in an effective and efficient manner
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to accomplish plant goals and objectives.
  • Provide direction, development, encourage collaboration, and leadership to all plant staff members
  • Provides a strong and positive style of leadership, ensuring high team morale and performance.

Perform other duties as assigned.

ATTRIBUTES:

  • Proven leadership, management and supervisory experience is required.
  • Prior experience in cement, limestone or other processes
  • Proven track record of increasing responsibility and increasing results is required
  • Must be capable of working any shift, on-call, overtime, or seven days a week, if needed.
  • Ability to plan and direct the work of salaried and hourly personnel and to train and develop an effective workforce.
  • Training and experience leading Lean and/or Six Sigma in solving difficult problems is a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate on all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong presentation and public speaking skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects and meeting all required deadlines.
  • Strong sense of urgency in meeting customer needs.
  • Strong understanding of safety, environmental, and the desire to following all established procedures are required.
  • All personnel will be responsible for the facilities' Safe Food initiative based on FSMA and Current Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Must have strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint software. Previous SAP knowledge is a plus.

Physical Demands include, but are not limited to:

  • Must be physically able to perform work assigned.
  • Must be physically capable of accessing all plant locations.
  • Tolerate working outside in severe weather conditions as well as exposure to industrial high temperature, noise and dust.
  • Access all areas within a site which could include heights of 120 feet, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, working over water, and accessing tunnels.
  • Will be working in an office environment, mining, and mineral processing environment.
  • The employee will be exposed to the following working conditions: Extreme Heat and Cold, Noise, Vibration, Oils, and Atmospheric Conditions such as Dust, Fumes, and Metallic Particles.
  • The employee will be required to perform the following actions (from time to time): Standing, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, talking, seeing, hearing, and sitting.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Travel up to 20% as needed or directed by leadership

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mining, Geology, Chemical, Mechanical or other Engineering disciplines is highly desired or equivalent work experience in the field.

PREFFERED EDUCATION:

  • Master's degree in relevant / related field

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Must have at least seven to ten years previous leadership experience in a fast-paced mining and/or heavy manufacturing, construction, environments. Previous clay, minerals, limestone, chemical, cement processing experience is highly desired. Solid understanding of cost accounting principles and financial statements, including P&L is required.

PREFFERED EXPERIENCE:

  • Ten (10) plus years of leadership experience in an industrial minerals/clay experience. Related Industries having worked in the following or comparable previous roles: Maintenance Manager, Production Manager, Mine/Quarry Manager, and/ or Quality Manager
