This is a role based out of our corporate office downtown Indianapolis (address is 1635 W. Michigan St., Indianapolis, IN 46222), so candidates will need to live within commuting distance. The general salary range for this position is $60-$70K and includes full benefits (below):

The Systems Administrator I is a key member of the Information Technology (IT) team, responsible for supporting and advancing enterprise applications and infrastructure across Goodwill Legacy Group. This role partners with senior leadership, business unit stakeholders, and IT colleagues to deliver reliable, secure, and scalable technology solutions that improve operational efficiency and user experience. The Systems Administrator proactively evaluates emerging technologies and industry trends to support current and future business needs, recommends strategic improvements, and maintain high service levels across the organization. This role also contributes to team development by mentoring IT staff, supporting cross-functional initiatives, and helping establish performance metrics, service standards, and operational best practices. This position reports to the Director of Infrastructure, Network & Security.

Example Duties and Activities

  • Administer and support enterprise technologies including mobile device management (MDM), email systems, Active Directory, file and print services, remote support tools, antivirus platforms, workstation configuration, monitoring systems, and patch management solutions.

  • Provide backup support for the Infrastructure and Architecture Manager as needed.

  • Support enterprise infrastructure environments including hardware, operating systems, security systems, networks, data centers, and related facilities.

  • Lead and support the full technology lifecycle for infrastructure services and workstation platforms, including evaluation, implementation, maintenance, optimization, and retirement.

  • Manage vendor relationships throughout the lifecycle of engagements, including onboarding, collaboration, performance management, and offboarding.

  • Coordinate and oversee project assignments, support activities, and accountability for team members and external partners when appropriate.

  • Develop and maintain infrastructure roadmaps for workstation technologies and peripherals, identifying emerging trends and opportunities that align with organizational goals.

  • Design, configure, and coordinate technology deployments for new sites and locations.

  • Promote and communicate infrastructure standards, policies, procedures, and best practices across the organization.

Required Competencies

  • Industry Expertise - Experience working in fast-paced, customer-focused environments such as retail, manufacturing, education, or operations. Comfortable managing high-volume or urgent support requests while maintaining strong customer service. Familiarity with ticketing systems, Windows operating systems, mobile device support, Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, VPN connectivity, and general network troubleshooting preferred.

  • SYSADMIN Support - Provides day-to-day operational support, monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance for infrastructure systems, devices, and applications. Delivers Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support and assists with standardizing and managing enterprise hardware and software solutions. Performs effectively during outages, security incidents, and other high-priority situations.

  • Change Agent - Supports organizational growth and process improvement initiatives by promoting adoption of new technologies and workflows. Demonstrates flexibility, collaboration, and the ability to guide others through change in a positive and productive manner.

  • Project Management (IT) - Supports multiple projects and operational priorities while helping manage timelines, requirements, vendors, and deliverables. Assists in translating business needs into technical solutions and helps coordinate successful implementations.

  • Liaison - Demonstrates the ability to work and communicate with both highly technical and non-technical staff. Acts as the internal communicator who facilitates a close working relationship between the team and/or end users. Listens attentively to the specific needs and goals of end users. Takes complex technical information and disseminates information to non-technical individuals in a respectful, understandable way. Guides, teaches, and otherwise influences the user base on the appropriate use and non-use of company technologies.

  • Technical Knowledge - Strong working knowledge of Google Workspace and Microsoft Office. Demonstrates the ability to troubleshoot a variety of hardware and software systems and quickly learn new technologies and tools.

  • Customer Focus - Listens, comprehends, and relates with customers in an impartial, unbiased yet effective and balanced manner; shows empathy and asks appropriate questions while building and maintaining customer satisfaction with the products and services offered by the organization; provides excellent and timely service to internal and external customers either in-person, over the phone, or via email. Maintains a professional and positive attitude.

  • Communication Skills - Articulates thoughts and expresses ideas effectively using oral, written, visual, and non-verbal communication skills, as well as listening skills to comprehend others' needs. Delivers information in person, in writing, and in a digital world.

Other Requirements

  • Travel - Willing to travel 10% +/- of the time to various locations throughout the territory of Goodwill.

  • On Call - Is available to work on-call duty rotation providing occasional after-hours, weekend, project, and emergency support.

  • Moderate to Hard Physical Work - is regularly required to walk and frequently required to do manual labor. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Must use tools such as power drills, screwdrivers, and cabling tools (such as crimpers).

  • Background Screening - All candidates must pass a pre-employment background check. Must have a valid driver's license, up-to-date auto insurance, and a good driving record.
