What to Expect
Tesla is accelerating the world's transition to sustainable energy, andwe'reseeking a seasoned senior commodity leader to own North America sourcing and supplier strategy for Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) andMilkruninboundlogistics. As Sr. GSM, you will set the multi-year category vision, lead the largest and most complex bid events in the region, and act as the executive-facing commodity owner for Tesla's North American factories (Fremont, Austin, Reno, Buffalo) and service network across the US, Canada, and Mexico. You will mentor junior buyers and analysts, influence senior stakeholders across Manufacturing, Finance, and Logistics Operations, and shape the inbound transportation backbone of the world's leading EV manufacturer. This is a high-ownership, high-visibility role for a proven leader who canoperateindependently from strategy through execution.

What You'll Do
  • Define and execute the multi-year North America category strategy for LTL and Milkrun, including should-cost models, supplier segmentation, network design, and consolidation roadmaps
  • Lead cross-functional design and optimization of multi-stop milkrun routes serving factory and service network locations across the US, Canada, and Mexico
  • Run the region's largest RFIs, RFPs, and RFQs spanning domestic, intra-Canada, intra-Mexico, and cross-border LTL programs
  • Own US-Mexico and US-Canada LTL/milkrun flows in coordination with Trade & Customs, including IMMEX, C-TPAT, FAST, and CARM considerations
  • Lead negotiation and execution of NDAs, SOWs, Master Transportation Agreements, and rate schedules in partnership with Legal
  • Deliver multi-million-dollar annual savings through bid rotations, mode conversions, trailer-fill improvements, and reduction of expedited freight
  • Set the KPI framework and lead executive business reviews with strategic carriers, owning escalations, disputes, and corrective action plans
  • Partner with senior leaders in Plant Logistics, Material Planning, Manufacturing Engineering, Finance, and Logistics Operations
  • Educate cross-functional teams and analysts on category strategy, negotiation, and stakeholder management
  • Track NA LTL market capacity, indices, fuel trends, and milkrun best practices to keep Tesla's network ahead of the market

What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, or related engineering field, or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years in transportation sourcing and carrier management within North America, including demonstrated leadership of LTL category strategy and/or inbound milkrun network design at an OEM, automotive, or large-scale manufacturing company
  • Proven ability to influence Director/VP-level stakeholders, lead cross-functional initiatives without direct authority, and present to executive leadership
  • Expert-level understanding of NA LTL pricing mechanics including base rates, FAK, discounts, accessorials, fuel, minimums, and NMFC classification
  • Deep expertise in milkrun route design including stop sequencing, time windows, trailer optimization, and frequency tuning
  • Established executive-level relationships across the NA LTL carrier base including national, regional, and cross-border specialists
  • Advanced proficiency with TMS data, rating engines, and analytics tools such as Excel, SQL, or Power BI
  • Deep command of purchasing processes including SOPs, RFIs/RFPs/RFQs, POs, MSAs, supplier scorecards, and contract governance
  • Executive-level negotiation, analytical, and communication skills with the ability to operate autonomously in high-pressure environments
  • Willingness to travel approximately 25-35% across the US, Canada, and Mexico

    Expected Compensation
    $128,000 - $192,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
