Position Highlights The successful candidate will work part time over the summer to create and implement undergraduate student laboratory protocols to detect food safety pathogens and other microbes that affect public health and food quality. Duties will include developing molecular protocols, adapting sequencing protocols, and trouble-shooting protocols to implement successfully with students performing practicum work and laboratory classwork.

This is a temporary position.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Work with supervisor to develop molecular protocols for food safety and microbiology undergraduate students for practicum and laboratory classwork.
  • Adapt sequencing protocols for food safety and microbiology undergraduate students for practicum and laboratory classwork.
  • Implement and trouble-shoot molecular and sequencing protocols for food safety and microbiology undergraduate students for application to practicum and laboratory classwork.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to follow molecular protocols.
  • Knowledge of food safety pathogen molecular detection methods.
  • Skill in communicating scientific information.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
  • Experience in food safety and microbiology undergraduate research.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Microbiology.

As a campus with residential housing facilities, the Main Campus ASR also includes a combined Annual Fire Safety report with information on fire statistics and fire safety systems, policies, and procedures.
