Job Responsibilities



  1. Implements health and safety programs at assigned locations which are aligned with the organizational safety management system.



  1. Implements ISO 14001 environmental management system where applicable.



  1. Coordinates and implements the application and training of safety rules, policies, and initiatives that help to create a safe workplace.



  1. Maintains OSHA logs, EHS records, and reporting for internal and external use.



  1. Manages environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives (hazardous waste, air emissions, water, obtaining and maintaining permits, etc.) directly and in coordination with external consultants for multiple facilities.



  1. Manages site activities with regulatory agencies to verify compliance, resolve situations, and maintain a cooperative working relationship.



  1. Escalates/reports potential violations and implements corrections as needed.



  1. Conducts frequent safety and environmental audits and takes immediate corrective action if required.



  1. Recommends and implements EHS related capital projects for supported facilities.



  1. Investigates workplace safety and environmental incidents through root cause analysis and partners with the operations team to implement corrective actions to correct problems and prevent future occurrences.



  1. Manages workers' compensation for supported facilities.



  1. Performs other duties as assigned, which may include leading projects of varying scale or scope.


Job Skills Requirements



  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of applicable EHS regulations ensuring facility compliance with Federal government agencies (i.e. OSHA and EPA), local agencies, and safety regulatory requirements.


  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing environment safety (i.e. industrial hygiene, ergonomics, machinery guards, interlock systems, industrial vehicle training, PPE, etc.).


  • Experience in implementing comprehensive safety, environmental, and sustainability projects.


  • Ability to investigate and define root cause, collect data, establish facts, and use sound judgment to draw valid conclusions.


  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, computer skills, data analysis and reporting tools, and other applicable applications.


  • Ability to work independently to carry tasks/projects through to completion while meeting established deadlines.


Educational Requirements



  • Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, environmental engineering, or related science disciplines, or equivalent education and experience.


Experience Requirements



  • Seven years of EHS experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
