THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position focuses on supporting the care, custody, and control of reentrants while maintaining a safe and orderly Community Corrections Center. As a Corrections Community Center Monitor, you will perform the following duties:

  • Safety Monitoring: Observe reentrant behavior, conduct counts, and maintain awareness of activity throughout the center
  • Security Procedures: Perform searches, check destinations, and document safety activities such as fire drills and inspections
  • Reentrant Support: Guide individuals through orientation, explain rules, and provide information about available services
  • Documentation Duties: Record observations, update logs, track sign-in activity, and maintain accurate inventory records
  • Communication Responsibilities: Interact with visitors, respond to concerns, and serve as a contact for law enforcement agencies
  • Team Assistance: Support new monitors, participate in hearings, and help maintain center readiness

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Community Corrections Centers are staffed by three (3) work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $41,081.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Additional Requirements:

  • You must be willing and able to work in Erie, Erie County, Pennsylvania.
  • You must have the ability to work different shifts or irregular scheduled hours.
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Two (2) years of experience performing public safety or security work. (Examples of qualifying experience include but are not limited to public safety or security work involving protection of persons and/or property and maintaining required security through enforcement of rules, regulations, and laws; public safety or security work in a correctional setting, juvenile, or adult development/detention center, law enforcement entity, or military security experience)
  • One (1) year of work experience providing direction/guidance to individuals. (Examples of qualifying work experience include but are not limited to performing as a lead worker or supervisor assigning and evaluating work tasks, providing informal counseling, or giving orders in the Military)
