THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports training and operations by gathering and analyzing geospatial data and producing maps, databases, and visual tools. As a Geospatial Specialist 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • Data Management: Collect and organize geospatial information from multiple sources
  • Mapping Production: Create maps and visual products that support planning and training
  • Standards Compliance: Ensure Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) data meet required federal and agency standards
  • Field Data Work: Gather Global Positioning Satellite System data in the field and process it for use in mapping systems
  • Technical Support: Provide guidance and training on GIS tools and applications
  • Spatial Analysis: Analyze geospatial data to identify useful patterns and support operations

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Geospatial Specialist 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of technical experience utilizing geospatial programs to capture, store, manipulate, analyze, maintain, and present geospatial data; and an associate's degree in geographic information systems, geography, geospatial technology, cartography, computer science, natural science, or related STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) field, including or supplemented by six (6) credits in geospatial coursework; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training, which includes or is supplemented by six (6) credits in geospatial coursework.

Other Requirements:

  • You must possess a valid federal or state-issued photo ID and pass a favorable NCIC screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.
  • You must pass a background check to obtain and maintain access to federal computer networks.
  • You must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
