DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will support the delivery of environmental education and interpretive programs that engage visitors of all ages and promote understanding of natural and human history at Worlds End State Park. As a Environmental Education Specialist, you will perform the following duties:
- Program Development: Design educational and interpretive programs on natural and human history topics
- Theme Based Instruction: Create activities based on state developed themes and established lesson plans
- Recreational Coordination: Organize and support special recreational and entertainment events for park visitors
- Lesson Planning: Prepare written lesson plans in the approved format for all presented programs
- Visitor Center Care: Maintain indoor and outdoor displays including the educational garden
- Social Media Support: Assist with monitoring park social media activities

- This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. There is not an option to buy into health care benefits. The season runs from approximately February 2026 until October 2026 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment February 2027.
- Work shifts and days will vary. The employee will work 37.5 hours per week across 5 days, which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays. Overtime may be required.
- Travel may be required.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree in environmental education, education, the natural sciences, social sciences, or parks and recreation; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
Conditions of Employment:
- Willingness to work weekends and evenings.
- Willingness to wear a prescribed uniform.
Other Requirements:
- This particular position also requires a non-commercial Class C Driver's License.
- You will be required to obtain CPR and First Aid certification upon hire.

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- You must pass a background investigation.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
- Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
