Job Overview

This position is responsible for receiving merchandise, unloading or unpacking it, stocking shelves, and helping place orders within the Food and Nutrition Department. Responsible for labeling and dating and proper rotation of product.

Location: Lowell General Hospital - 295 Varnum Avenue - Lowell, MA

Hours: 40 Hours - Tuesday - Saturday, 7am - 3:30pm with rotating holidays.

Job Description

Minimum Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or equivalent.

2. Some related experience in warehousing or stocking.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. One (1) year related experience in warehousing or stocking.

Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities listed below are intended to describe the general nature of work and are not intended to be an all-inclusive list. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

1. Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment.

2. Receives, lifts, moves, stores, issues, counts, sorts, weighs and verifies items on requisitions or invoices.

3. Receives and processes a wider variety of incoming freight, including food, stationery supplies, chemicals, electronic equipment, and other materials on a daily basis across perimeter buildings and according to priority.

4. Compares incoming and outgoing shipments to bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records to verify information.

5. Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages. Follows HACCP procedures for food receiving.

6. Fills orders, issues supplies from stock and rotates stock to ensure freshness. Uses FIFO method of rotation.

7. Resolves delivery problems using a computerized account payable/purchasing system or vendor systems.

8. Assembles and delivers food and non -food requisitions as needed.

9. Assists with delivering and re-stocking of beverage coolers in cafeteria on a daily basis.

10. Assists in weekly and monthly food and non-food department inventorying.

11. Assists in placing vendor order as directed or delegated.

12. Prepares assets for distribution, including transportation and storage.

13. Returns damaged items or other items to vendors that do not meet Hospital /Department specifications.

14. Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of storage areas, food racks in all storage and walk-ins on a daily and weekly basis.

15. Provides security for all stock in the storeroom and/or refrigerator/freezer.

16. May move or transport materials or supplies to other departments using hand or industrial trucks.

17. Follows all safety requirements of hospital, department, local, state and federal jurisdictions. Participates in regular safety meetings, safety training and hazard assessments. Attends training programs (classroom and virtual) as designated.

18. Complies with all Hospital / Department HACCP/OSHA, and/ or local policies and procedures related to all assigned work.

19. Reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.
