The Opportunity

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University invites applications for a Research Assistant Professor position in the area of Advanced Additive Manufacturing. This is a research-focused, non-tenure-track faculty position based on the Daytona Beach Campus.

Position Overview
The successful candidate will contribute to the university's growing research portfolio by conducting externally sponsored research in advanced additive manufacturing and related aerospace applications. In addition to research responsibilities, the position includes limited teaching assignments at the undergraduate level.

The Research Assistant Professor will collaborate with faculty, students, industry partners, and funding agencies to advance innovative manufacturing technologies and support the university's mission of excellence in aerospace education and research.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct high-quality sponsored research in advanced additive manufacturing and related areas.
  • Develop and submit competitive research proposals to federal agencies, industry sponsors, and other funding organizations.
  • Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present results at professional conferences.
  • Supervise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students engaged in research activities.
  • Support laboratory operations, experimental testing, and data analysis.
  • Teach undergraduate courses as assigned.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary research teams across the university and with external partners.
  • Participate in professional service activities that support the research mission of the university.
  • Work may occasionally occur outside normal business hours to accommodate laboratory experiments, proposal deadlines, and conference travel. Limited domestic travel for conferences and research collaborations may be required.

Qualifications

Required Education and Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. or other doctorate-level equivalent in Aerospace Engineering or a closely related field.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated expertise in advanced additive manufacturing.

  • Strong background in experimental research methods.

  • Ability to conduct and manage sponsored research projects.

  • Ability to teach undergraduate engineering courses.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative academic and research environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Record of scholarly publications in additive manufacturing or related fields.

  • Experience securing or contributing to externally funded research projects.

  • Experience working with aerospace manufacturing applications.

  • Experience mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.
