Position Summary

The Emergency Mgmt & Safety Prog Mgr as the subject matter expert for emergency management and hospital safety within a defined service area. The position leads the implementation of emergency preparedness standards and initiatives across system, regional, and local entities to ensure readiness for all-hazard events. Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining emergency response plans, conducting risk assessments, coordinating with regulatory agencies, and advising leadership on compliance. As Hospital Safety Officer, the role enforces safety policies, conducts facility inspections, investigates hazards, and drives corrective actions to maintain accreditation and regulatory compliance. Flexibility to respond during non-standard hours is required to support critical incidents.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the regional Emergency Management and Safety programs to ensure regulatory requirements are met, including completing surveys and investigations from regulatory agencies.

  • Complete Pre-Construction Risk Assessments (PCRA's) and Infection Control Risk Assessments (ICRA's) to support construction and incident response

  • Conduct Fire Drills for all hospital and ambulatory sites

  • Conduct annual emergency management exercises for all hospital and clinic locations

  • Develops, maintains and implements all Hazard Vulnerability Assessments, Business Continuity Plans and Emergency Management Plans for assigned service area

  • Supports the organization's response to disasters/emergencies as a key member of the Incident Management Team and key advisor to leaders

  • This position requires technical skills, organization, attention to detail, strong customer service skills, and discretion and confidentiality when dealing with sensitive and privileged information.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management or related field

  • Minimum three (3) years of Emergency Management and Safety experience, preferably in a hospital environment

  • Minimum two (2) years of relevant healthcare experience

  • Completion of FEMA courses: ICS 100, ICS 200, ICS 300, ICS 400, IS 700, IS 800

  • OSHA 30 (General Industry)

  • Certification in Industrial/Occupational Safety and HazWoper or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire

Preferred credentials or coursework

  • Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP)

  • Certified Emergency Manager (CEM)

  • Master Exercise Practitioner Program (MEPP)

  • Associate in Risk Management (ARM)

  • Project Management Professional (PMP)

Pay and Benefit Expectations

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $97,822.40 - $140,732.80 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant's years of experience align.
