Position Summary
The Daley Lab and Schlaeger Lab are seeking a Research Technologist to support laboratory operations with hands-on research responsibilities. Approximately 50% of the role will focus on laboratory management and administrative functions, including ordering supplies, monitoring laboratory inventory and stock levels, coordinating equipment maintenance, ensuring lab safety and chemical compliance, maintaining laboratory protocols and regulatory documentation (including biosafety/IBC, chemical safety, animal protocols, and human subjects research/IRB), and assisting with grant preparation and submission activities. The remaining 50% of the role will involve actively contributing to ongoing research projects and supporting experimental activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with experimental procedures involving mice, including breeding and genotyping, irradiation and cell transplantation, injection of medications, surgical procedures, as well as routine health monitoring and care.
  • Isolate cells and tissues from experimental animals, and prepare these cells for subsequent analysis by flow cytometry, molecular analysis, immunohistochemistry, cell culture or transplantation.
  • Culture mammalian cells using sterile techniques.
  • Cellular analysis including immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, DNA / RNA isolation, PCR, and other molecular biology techniques.
  • Maintain accurate, detailed, and up-to date notebook records regarding all procedures performed and results obtained.
  • Operate instruments such as flow cytometer and microscopes.
  • Ensure safe laboratory practices and compliance with institutional research guidelines.
  • Ordering and stocking of supplies and general lab maintenance
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree, Master's preferred.
Experience:
  • 4 years of relevant experience OR Master's and 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Willingness to work with animals and animal and human tissues.
  • Strong organizational, management and communication skills, and an ability to recognize and prioritize responsibilities.
  • Willingness to commit to at least 3-5 years.

The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.

Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
