The Contribution You'll bring to this Role:

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our engineering team in a fast-paced, engineered-to-order (ETO), project-based manufacturing environment. This role sits at the intersection of sales, engineering, operations, and the customer, and is responsible for delivering high-quality, compliant, and cost-effective custom hazmat storage buildings.

This is a hands-on leadership position, requiring active engagement with the company's products, processes, and people to gain a comprehensive understanding of the business. The Engineering Manager will provide both technical direction and managerial oversight to a team of engineers and drafters while collaborating with Sales, Operations, and Compliance departments to deliver high-quality, customized storage solutions.

What You'll Do at Justrite:



  1. Engineering Leadership



  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers and designers
  • Manage workload across multiple concurrent custom projects
  • Establish and enforce engineering standards, processes, and best practices
  • Drive design quality, consistency, and continuous improvement
  • Promote design reuse, modularity, and standardization




  1. Sales & Pre-Engineering Collaboration



  • Partner with sales to support quoting and proposal development
  • Review RFQs and customer requirements for feasibility
  • Provide conceptual designs and technical input
  • Identify risks early and balance speed vs. accuracy
  • Prevent scope creep




  1. Project Execution & Lifecycle Ownership



  • Oversee engineering deliverables from concept through production
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, EPA, IFC standards
  • Manage timelines and documentation accuracy
  • Control engineering changes and revisions




  1. Operations & Manufacturing Collaboration



  • Work with manufacturing and supply chain teams
  • Ensure DFM/DFA best practices
  • Maintain accurate BOMs and routings
  • Reduce rework and improve production efficiency




  1. Customer Engagement



  • Serve as technical point of contact
  • Lead technical discussions and design reviews
  • Manage expectations and resolve issues



Your Skills and Expertise:

To ensure your success from day one in this role, Justrite requires the following qualifications at a minimum:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Structural Engineering (Master's Degree preferred).


  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) strongly preferred.


  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management capacity.


  • Experience in custom metal fabrication, modular buildings, or industrial storage structures preferred. Electrical and HVAC knowledge and experience is a Plus.


  • Demonstrated experience managing technical teams and multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in engineering and design software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and related tools.



Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:



  • Comprehensive knowledge of building codes and standards including NFPA, OSHA, IBC, and EPA regulations.
  • Modular buildings or industrial systems experience.
  • PE License (optional)


  • Strong leadership and team-building capabilities with a focus on collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.


  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and deadlines.


  • Hands-on leadership style with a willingness to be actively involved in daily operations to understand and optimize business processes.



Compensation:

The position offers a competitive base salary ranging from $150,000 to $170,000.

Actual base salaries will vary and may be above or below the recommended pay range based on factors such as but not limited to location, relevant experience and performance. Additionally, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan to enhance their overall total compensation package when Justrite Safety Group and their business units achieve annual business and financial targets.
