Position Summary

The Quality Supervisor is responsible for leading continuous improvement initiatives through the implementation of DESTACO Operating System principles, driving measurable improvements in key financial and operational performance metrics. This role ensures all products meet DESTACO quality assurance and reliability standards.

The Quality Supervisor is accountable for implementing, maintaining, and continuously improving a quality management system compliant with ISO 9000:2008 and NQA-1 standards, serving as the designated ISO/NQA-1 Management Representative. This position holds final authority over product shipment decisions and is responsible for ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.

Additionally, the Quality Supervisor ensures that the Quality Policy and associated objectives are effectively communicated, understood, and applied throughout the organization. The role is responsible for overall product quality, supplier quality performance, and driving initiatives that exceed customer expectations while enhancing the effectiveness of the quality management system.

The Quality Supervisor reports directly to the Plant Manager and is based in Wheeling, IL. The position requires up to 10% travel and includes direct supervision of Inspection personnel and cross-functional project teams. Strong collaboration with Engineering, Manufacturing, Customer Service, Materials Management, Finance, as well as external customers and suppliers, is essential.

Key Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • On-site lead of Quality Engineers, CMM programmer and Quality Technicians,
  • Lead the resolution of quality issues involving customers, suppliers, and internal teams
  • Conduct Management Review meetings and report quality system performance to the Executive Management Team
  • Serve as Management Representative for ISO 9000:2008 compliance activities
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and effectiveness of internal quality audits
  • Evaluate, approve, and monitor supplier performance and qualification
  • Manage the calibration, maintenance, and effectiveness of quality inspection equipment
  • Review and approve supplier deviation requests
  • Support production planning activities to ensure quality requirements are met
  • Coordinate and support external audits conducted by certification bodies and customers
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on enhancing quality, reducing cost, and improving key performance metrics

Job Requirements:

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in the quality field
  • Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in a Manager or Supervisor role
  • Hands-on experience with metrology equipment, including CMMs, hardness testers, profilometers, and other precision measurement tools
  • Strong knowledge of quality methodologies and systems, including ISO auditing, SPC, FMEA, APQP, and inspection techniques
  • Demonstrated experience implementing Lean manufacturing tools and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (preferably Oracle) and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to build, develop, and sustain a positive, high-performing team environment
  • Proven change agent capable of driving cultural transformation and inspiring teams at all organizational levels
  • Strong business acumen with solid project management capabilities
  • Working knowledge of machining, stamping, and assembly processes, along with the ability to read and interpret blueprints

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and managerial skills
  • Knowledge of budgeting principles and project management practices

Education and Certification Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required in Engineering or other related field
  • Certified Quality Engineer (ASQC CQE); other ASQC certifications are highly desirable

Travel Requirements

Minimal travel up to 10% of the time to DESTACO facilities, and customer/supplier locations.
