We are seeking an experienced setup MILLING MACHINIST to join our team! The MACHINIST will set up and operate milling machines as defined in the job routings. Performs the most complex machining projects and modifies machine programs to manufacture precision parts. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but not limited to:
- Machinists will be asked to run and set up a variety of different machines. The following information includes the duties and responsibilities involved with these various machines.
- Reads and understands blueprints, job routings, set up sheets, and charts for such specifications as dimensions, tolerances, and tooling instructions such as type of holding fixtures, cutting speeds, feed rates, and cutting tools to be used.
- Load and set tools while understanding run out, tool length stick outs, and proper holder based on what the tool is doing.
- Creates and reviews set up sheets for critical information and proper set up instructions.
- Designs and creates fixtures and work holding.
- Edits programs with proper approval and manually program at the machine when needed.
- Load, send and review programs for accuracy and completeness.
- Recognize, understand and properly adjust or replace dull or chipped tooling. Understand tool life and record and properly set the machine to indicate when tool life is consumed.
- Must be able to run more than one machine where cycle time permits.
- Perform Quality Control Characteristics documentation of tolerance zones specified on blueprints.
- Having a firm understanding of measurement equipment performs detailed inspection using a variety of inspection processes
- Trains and supports others within the area of expertise.
- Create processes and work instructions or set up sheets for straightening parts.
- Other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
- Responsible to conduct yourself and ensure your subordinates (if applicable) conduct themselves in a manner consistent with company mission, values, code of ethics, policies, and other standards of conduct.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Associate Degree in machining.
- Minimum 5+ years of CNC Machinist experience with emphasis on set up and operation.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Able to read programs and understand what dimensions each tool is creating.
- Firm understanding of tool geometry and applications of different tool types.
- Knowledge of GD&T principles.
Ability to multi-task, prioritize, adapt to shifting priorities and meet deadlines. - Problem solving and decision-making skills and the ability to think independently.
Must be able to work in other areas on an as needed basis. - Organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to collaborate and work well with others.
- Show initiative in work by being a self-starter, suggesting new ideas for completing a job, giving input as to how to improve the efficiency of a job, and organizing work time in order to complete jobs in a timely matter.
