Position Summary

Position Summary:

Achieving company cost and customer service objectives by ensuring timely and efficient completion of design responsibilities for a product. Primary focus on design and manufacturing thermoplastic hose, tubing and fittings

Scope/ Supervision and Interaction:

Interface with customers, Parker Sales, Product Managers, Purchasing, Manufacturing and Quality. Perform design responsibilities as assigned by Management with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Prepare organized and detailed information on design calculations, stress analysis, and product descriptions for standards and special products.

  • Prepare and/or participate in the preparation, checking and releasing of design layouts, and detail drawings.

  • Coordinate lab testing as it relates to the product being designed. Initiate, evaluate, and analyze results of test programs on assigned projects.

  • Design products utilizing CAD, customer proposal drawings, customer design intent information, and design concept drawings.

  • Support Engineering, Marketing, Estimating, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Technical Service, Customer Service and Quality as required.

  • Apply analysis methods (Value Analysis, Design of Experiments, FEA, SPC, FMEA, etc.), as required.

  • Review and approve literature and technical information for assigned products, as required.

  • Apply lean principles to all processes.

  • Must continuously maintain the highest degree of customer service, throughput, quality, cost reduction and people productivity.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • B.S. in mechanical or other relevant engineering field.
  • 0-2 years of experience with engineering activities.
  • Experience with thermoplastics, thermosets or fluoropolymer design or manufacturing is a plus
  • Skilled in the use of CAD software such as AutoCAD, Pro-Engineer and/or other similar and relevant applications.
  • Able to interpret technical catalogs.
  • Computer literate in Windows environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to plan, organize and administer multiple development tasks concurrently.
  • Background in analysis methods (Value Analysis, Design of Experiments, FEA, SPC, FMEA, etc.) a plus.
  • Computer Aided Design experience with 3D modeling a plus.
  • May require occasional travel to customers or other Parker Hannifin facilities.
