Warehouse Technician Job Summary:

With limited supervision, the Warehouse Technician independently performs warehouse operations including receiving, storing, issuing, and shipping materials, equipment, and supplies in a chemical plant environment. This position is responsible for maintaining inventory accuracy through cycle counting, investigating and resolving routine discrepancies, and ensuring proper material handling and storage practices. The Warehouse Technician operates proficiently with the Oracle ERP system, manages vendor interactions for routine matters, and serves as a resource for internal stakeholders seeking inventory information. This role requires the ability to prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously, make independent decisions on standard warehouse operations, and escalate only complex or unusual situations to supervision. The Warehouse Technician demonstrates consistent adherence to EH&S regulations, champions safety protocols, and provides informal mentorship and training support to less experienced warehouse staff. Job tasks, when correctly performed, directly impact cost containment, operational efficiency, inventory accuracy, and profitability.

Duties and Responsibilities

EH&S Role and Responsibilities:



  • Comply with all EH&S regulations, policies, procedures, and guidelines at all times
  • Participate in Safety/Environmental meetings and training programs as directed by management
  • Wear appropriate PPE at all times when required
  • Report safety hazards and equipment defects to supervisor immediately
  • Operate equipment and work practices in a safe and environmentally responsible manner within assigned areas
  • Accountable for personal work practices that impact Safety and Environmental performance


Inventory Management:



  • Independently conduct cycle counts comparing system inventory to physical stock
  • Investigate routine discrepancies and reconcile errors using established procedures
  • Escalate complex inventory issues to supervisor with recommended solutions
  • Print, perform, and upload cycle count results in Oracle system
  • Maintain inventory accuracy through proper labeling and location management
  • Monitor stock levels and notify appropriate personnel of reorder needs
  • Apply inventory labels and location tags


Receiving Operations:



  • Check deliveries for proper location and package integrity
  • Note discrepancies on shipping papers and report to supervisor
  • Stamp and sign bills of lading and packing slips
  • Notify supervisor and requestor of Over, Shortage & Damaged (OS&D) items
  • Assist with unloading incoming freight as directed
  • Receive materials against purchase orders in Oracle system


Material Handling and Storage:



  • Manually or mechanically load and unload materials from pallets, skids, platforms, and transport vehicles using basic equipment (hand trucks, pallet jacks, forklifts)
  • Determine appropriate storage locations based on material characteristics and warehouse organization
  • Put away materials to assigned storage locations
  • Move materials, equipment, and supplies efficiently throughout the warehouse
  • Secure and maintain integrity of materials received and stored
  • Tag items for field delivery


Shipping and Issuing:



  • Pack outgoing materials and equipment for shipment following established procedures
  • Assist with loading outgoing shipments as required
  • Complete Material Out Forms for all materials leaving the site
  • Issue warehouse stock items and materials to work orders or GL accounts in Oracle system


Oracle ERP System:



  • Learn Oracle system navigation and data entry
  • Receive materials against purchase orders
  • Enter routine transactions
  • Receive direct charge and stock items against purchase orders


Warehouse Maintenance:



  • Clean and organize warehouse floors, bins, aisles, and storage areas daily
  • Maintain supplies, tools, and equipment in designated areas
  • Keep immediate grounds around warehouse clean and orderly
  • Assist with general housekeeping tasks as assigned


Record Keeping:



  • File paperwork and shipping documents according to established procedures
  • Maintain accurate records of materials received and issued
  • Complete required forms and logs as directed


Other Duties:



  • Participate in annual physical inventory counts
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor



Required Qualifications:



  • Possession of a High School Diploma or GED from an accredited entity
  • 6 months to 1 year of experience in a warehouse environment
