Description Location: Charlotte, NC Exchange Architect - Microsoft 365 Role Overview The Exchange Architect is responsible for the design, architecture, and technical governance of Microsoft Exchange Online within Microsoft 365. This role leads complex email, calendaring, and collaboration initiatives, ensuring secure, scalable, and highly available messaging solutions aligned to business and compliance requirements. The architect works closely with security, identity, endpoint, and collaboration teams and serves as the technical authority for Exchange related decisions across the tenant. ________________________________________ Key Responsibilities Architecture & Design Design and maintain Exchange Online architecture within Microsoft 365, including: oMail flow (inbound, outbound, hybrid) oSMTP relay oTransport rules, connectors, and routing Define reference architectures for: oExchange Online-only tenants oHybrid Exchange (on premises + Exchange Online) oCross tenant migrations and coexistence Ensure alignment with M365 security, identity, and compliance architectures Migration & Modernization Lead and design email migrations from: oExchange Server (2013/2016/2019) oThird party platforms (Google Workspace, Lotus Notes, etc.) Define migration strategies, tools, and sequencing (cutover, staged, hybrid) Oversee legacy Exchange decommissioning and dependency cleanup Security, Compliance & Governance Architect solutions leveraging: oExchange Online Protection (EOP) oMicrosoft Defender for Office 365 oData Loss Prevention (DLP) oRetention policies and litigation hold Partner with security teams on: oPhishing and spam mitigation oZero Trust email architecture oDMARC, DKIM, SPF implementation Skills Exchange, Office 365, Active directory, Exchange server Top Skills Details Exchange,Office 365,Active directory Additional Skills & Qualifications Performance, Availability & Operations Design for high availability and resiliency Establish best practices for: oService health monitoring oMail flow troubleshooting oCapacity and license planning Serve as escalation point for complex Exchange issues Experience Level* Intermediate Level Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Charlotte, NC. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $50.00 - $65.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
