Summary: Responsible for developing, implementing, and managing safety and security programs across all UNC Health System ambulatory sites, physician practice locations, non-clinical administration, shared services sites, and logistics facilities. Provides leadership and direction to safety and security personnel, ensuring a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff. Partners with operational, clinical, and administrative leaders to mitigate risk, maintain regulatory compliance, and foster a culture of safety across the physician enterprise. Manages safety and security teammates assigned to ambulatory and ancillary services, providing direction, training, and motivation to enhance departmental effectiveness. Establishes work priorities and performance standards for the team. Provides consultation and guidance to site leaders and teammates on safety and security concerns, including incident prevention, response planning, and environmental risk assessments. Serves as the primary liaison between ambulatory and ancillary services leaders and external partners such as local law enforcement, emergency management, and regulatory agencies Develops, implements, and evaluates policies, procedures, and training programs to ensure compliance with safety and security regulations, organizational standards, and accreditation requirements. Promotes continuous improvement of emergency preparedness, workplace violence prevention, and incident response protocols. Partners with the HCS Director of Security Technology and Operations support to coordinate the operation, maintenance, and integration of security systems such as access control, alarms, and surveillance equipment across system locations. Develops and manages the departmental operating budget for ambulatory and ancillary services security. Ensures efficient use of resources and provides explanations for budget variances. Evaluates and optimizes staffing and operational structures to achieve safety goals within budgeted parameters. Directly supervises safety and security teammates, including hiring, evaluation, professional development, and disciplinary actions in compliance with Human Resources policies and employment regulations. Oversees investigations of safety and security incidents within ambulatory and ancillary services, ensuring thorough documentation and appropriate follow-up. Collaborates with Legal, Risk Management, and HR to address incidents and identify corrective actions; Acts as liaison with law enforcement and regulatory agencies as appropriate.
