Job Summary

Reporting and accountable to the Nurse Manager/Director, the Procedural Registered Nurse (RN)is responsible forcoordinating and delivering patient careutilizingthe nursing process in a range of settings including in a cardiovascular catheterization laboratory ("Cath Lab") or interventional radiological care. The Procedural RN will perform a range of clinical tasks that may include moderate sedation,monitoringof hemodynamics and temporary pacing, cardioversion/defibrillation, and medication administration, including drips. Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards.

Responsibilities And Scope

  • Administers patient care under the direction of a physician.Identifiesand pursues expected patient outcomes in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team. Performs a range of clinical tasks that may include moderate sedation,monitoringof hemodynamics and temporary pacing, cardioversion/defibrillation, and medication administration, includingdrips
  • Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with healthcare organization and nursing standards,policiesand procedures.
  • Organizes and prioritizes care according to patient/family needs. Consults withappropriate resourcesina timelyfashionregardingpatients with complex care issues, unusual teachingneedsand/or those athigh riskfor discharge planning.
  • Collaborates with peers in a clinical operations environment, including fostering intra/interdepartmental communication.
  • Synthesizes data in complex situations todeterminepriorities for care, includingappropriate physical, psychosocial,educationand safety needs.Assesses and anticipates discharge needs of individual patients and families.
  • Communicates with patient/family to prepare or update the plan of care using cultural competency and active listening. Develops relationships with patients and their families that promote their ability to advocate for patient and family needs.
  • Develops clinical and operational excellence in self and in peers through education and training.
  • Promotes a safe,cleanand secure hospital environment for all, including the application of standard precautions and principles of infection control.

Qualifications

Required

  • Must be licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina or one of compact states - required by first date of clinicalcare
  • Two (2) years of experience working in an acute care setting in a Registered Nurse (RN)role
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification required by first date of clinicalcare
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification - required by first date of clinicalcare

Preferred

  • Experience working in critical or emergency care in a Registered Nurse (RN)role
  • Three (3) years of experience working in an acute care setting in a Registered Nurse (RN)role
