DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will engage in professional and technical safety management tasks to enhance the administration, training, and oversight of safety programs within an engineering district. Your duties will involve creating, organizing, and delivering safety guidance and training, as well as monitoring compliance with safety programs and offering technical support to district and county staff. You will also be responsible for coordinating and maintaining safety policies and procedures, conducting on-site inspections, and managing all aspects of the Accident/Injury Prevention Program. Furthermore, you will chair the Accident Review Committee, investigate serious injuries and accidents, and ensure that corrective measures are implemented and monitored. Your work will include coordinating and completing accident and injury reports, entering data into safety systems, and managing necessary documentation. As a subject matter expert in safety training, you will conduct OSHA classes, workshops, seminars, and presentations to share information about new programs, processes, and policies. - Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Overtime and travel as needed, may involve overnight travel.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Clearfield. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. - Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $59,345 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as a Safety Specialist 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- One year of professional experience in conducting safety inspections, safety investigations, or safety training; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirements:
- This position requires an active Advanced Safety Certificate issued by the National Safety Council's Safety Training Institute within two years of starting in this job.
Other Requirements:
- This particular position also requires possession of a current driver's license which is not under suspension.
