Tennessee Early Intervention System

A Motor Vehicle Records screening will be conducted prior to employment.

Proof of Education is required.

This position requires a criminal background check. Therefore, you may be required to provide information about your criminal history in order to be considered for this position.

Qualifications

1. Complete a criminal history disclosure form in a manner approved by the appointing authority.
2. Agree to release all records involving their criminal history to the appointing authority.
3. Supply a fingerprint sample in a manner prescribed by the TBI for a fingerprint based criminal history records check.
4. Submit to a review of their status on the Department of Health's vulnerable persons registry.

Overview

Under general supervision, is responsible for professional social counseling work of average difficulty and supervisory work of routine difficulty; and performs related work as required. An employee in this class is responsible for supervising subordinates providing professional social counseling services. This class differs from that of Social Counselor 2 in that an incumbent of the latter is responsible for professional social counseling work and is not supervising.

Responsibilities

1. Directs, trains, assigns, supervises, and evaluates the work of subordinate employees according to policy. Supervises and participates in the preparation and maintenance of reports related to assigned program.
2. Assess the quality of services based on identified needs and appropriateness of referrals. Monitors program activities to ensure goals are met and makes periodic home visits to observe interactions with external customers.
3. Provides guidance and advice to improve efficiency and quality of program operations and services.
4. Performs liaison work and communicates effectively with other departments, governmental entities, and other internal/external customers in explaining programs and obtaining desired actions. Maintains contact with other related program staff to coordinate efforts.
5. Handles complaints and resolves conflicts from external and internal customers. Discusses difficult cases with subordinates or supervisors to assist in problem solving.
